Default Are you pre-ordering titles less?

I pre-ordered TRUE ROMANCE, ROBIN HOOD, and FALLING DOWN from the
wb.shop when they had a promotion. Since then I've read nothing but mediocre reviews of the first 2 titles.

I pre-ordered the STAR TREK movies and cancelled at the last minute because of rumored technical faults and now see that apparantly there
are some problems...

I'm getting tired of seeing titles announced on blu-ray only to read a review
saying "hopefully (insert studio name) will revisit this title in the future and do it right"

I'm done pre-ordering titles until I read a review first
What do you guys think? Are you more cautious? And are you irritated
by the sloppy standards that studios are throwing at us?

I try avoiding pre-orders. I prefer having a review with idea of PQ on certain releases before making a choice on them. Certain things are just a given, I will buy them no matter what, like Bug's Life, Underworld 3, Inkheart.

I waited on a review of Princess Bride & Robin Hood before making my choice.

I have stopped pre-ordering, but that is just because of prices. I found that the last few pre-orders I made ended up being a few dollars cheaper somewhere else on release day.
The quality issue doesn't bother me, because there are soem reviewers who wouldn't be happy unless the relase is pristine. Well, some movies just are not going to be. It doesn't surprise me that there is a difference in quality between Ghost and Bedtime Stories.

The way I figured it, as I was picking up The Princess Bride for 19 at Walmart,
"It has to look better than the DVD." And it does.

I use the reviews for my own personal taste. Just wondering does it make me happy enough to buy or do I wait for something else. I was going nuts with DVD purchase back in 2002-2006. I had so many DVD's that ended up with a one viewing sessions and then stayed on my shelves for years collecting dust. I am being way more careful with BD.

Yep, I just wanted to be sure. Princess Bride is a guilty pleasure of mine and I did not want a bad transfert and that was the reason I waited for a review, see a few screen shots to make my decision.

Depends on the movie for me, if its a sequel or something i have seen and 100% need it right away then i always pre-order. If its one im going to dd on or thought the film was 'ok' then i will wait for a review

I'm getting more cautious now on catalog title preorders if they are from Warner or Lionsgate. I was really disapointed with the review of Robin Hood Prince of Theives and True Romance so it will make me think twice on preordering Warner titles until I read a review.

I was pre-ordering tons of movies on amazon. Then the title came out cheaper at best buy and I got it the day after release. I am not buying as many movies anymore. I did just get The good, the bad, And The ugly yesterday I was going to pre-order from amazon. I am glad i didn't i got it from target fro 19.99
And it was excellent.

Its not the price that bothers me but its the waiting time after pre-ordering it. It kinda teases me because I'm always expecting it to arrive in my mailbox.

I'll buck the trend and say that I still pre-order all the time. I must have 20 on order right now with some form of Amazon or another.

I have an Amazon Prime membership, so my 2 day shipping is free, of course. Funny thing is, on almost all of the ones I've done this month, they've made it to me in 1 day. Much better, and easier on me, to just let it come to me in my mailbox.

It all comes down to price for me. If it's cheap enough I'll pre-order, if not I'll wait until the price drops after release and buy it then. There seems to be a lot more offers and cheapers discs in the UK now so I don't feel the need to get every new release on release day.

I never pre-order anymore, for two reason:
1. I wanna hear opinions of PQ first, since it's still so varied.
2. Price is too high at launch, and one can save big bucks in waiting a week or two.

Same here, why pay more for a film you can see for less, later. Never pre-ordered a BD tltle in my life, and I won't till all technical issues have been sorted.

I don't preorder that much unless its something I really want like Sin City or the X-men trilogy, for example.

I usually wait to see if Amazon, Best Buy(yeah right) or Fry's is having a sale.

No more pre-ordering for me, since Amazon changed their price policy. Prices fall too quickly and I buy too many movies to lose $6-7/movie. I use CH for BOGO's, and just wait. Others I want to see right away I may Netflix.
