"Christina Ricci couldn´t have looked any better in high definition that she does in this stunningly detailed Blu-ray transfer. The 2.35:1 transfer is formatted with the AVC/MPEG-4 codec and is as detailed as high definition transfers get. This is the first Paramount title I have reviewed in high definition where I am not also reviewing the HD-DVD releases, so I didn´t have the benefit of watching the film twice, but in one sit down, I was very impressed."

Yes, the movie is very good. Samuel L. Jackson playing a different role but still plays with his cool, swave personality. A real high recommendation from me.

Already had this pre-ordered months ago.

I have this in my queue. While I know a lot of people who thought it looked dumb from the previews, I liked the concept and think it will be entertaining if not Oscar-worthy.

I don't understand why this happens. Yet another movie with sub-par audio compared to hd-dvd, when it should be the other way around. I agree, get your act together Paramount, you're obviously giving the shaft to a much larger and more dedicated blu-ray audience, not a good thing to be doing!

As far as the audio goes, my understanding is Blu-ray only supports Dolby Digital 5.1 up to 640Kbps, plus there's not much if any noticeable difference between Dolby Digital 5.1 at 1.5 Mbps. My compliant is why not include at least a PCM track which is much better than both forms of DD5.1? Black Snake Moan is only a single layer disc, so I assume there's my answer.

But I just placed an order since this is one movie I really want to see.

Well HD DVD only supports Dolby Digital 5.1 up to 448kbps
In any case, yes we should have lossless audio from the masters on movies when possible, but if they decided to make it a single layer release and used DD and gave us an excellent picture I'd prefer that to having the better audio and a compromised picture. The picture in the disc is hard sharp I can see a difference between it and the deleted scenes which are also on HD but in a different, lesser encode. I would not have liked the movie to look for example like that if that came from the inclusion of a bigger audio file then. In any case the Black Snake Moan electric guitar + voice song sounded chillingly realistic and intimate as it is right now.

Oops, I meant DD+ @ 1.5 Mbps. DD vs DD+ is a low common denominator vs an improved low common denominator.

ok, ive bought this film, not even having heard of this film before, yet its new and seems to have 2 good actors in it

it says drugs,sex and violence, so i just had to try it.

is it worth a purchase, its the 2nd one ive ordered from the states in 2 days.

this blu-ray thing is addictive
