If it lasts two years, it will last forever. Extended warranties are an "ups and extras" gimme for retailers. Don't do it. Just keep a sharp eye on the Kuro for the two year span, but I have yet to hear of anyone having problems with them. |

It depends, to be honest with you.
Extended warranties buy piece of mind, and I don't think you should ever count them out as a general rule. I always do the same thing when considering a warranty... Consider the length/term of the warranty, and then consider the cost ratio to the unit that you're buying.... In this case remember 2 things. #1, Bestbuy doesn't do EXTENDED warranties, so consider their warranty term "-2 years" because you already would have had 2 years included #2 Bestbuy warranties are fantastic, and you can bring the TV back to the store, and it is wonderful It's up to you in the end, like I said, if you're buying a $4,000+ TV $400 for 2 years seems pretty reasonable, if you're buying a $400 TV, then a $400 warranty is rediculous. Think it through! Lastly, since warranties are full profit for the store, see if you can get them to lower the TV cost (subsequently lowering the total cost for both). Simply explain how interested in the warranty you are, but you simply don't have enough money for both, then haggle them down so that you can get both for a reasonable price! ![]() |

Buy the Kuro on a credit card like AE that adds an extra of warranty for a total of 3 years.
At the end of the 3 years the Kuro will be worth a lot less, probably worth not much more than the cost of the extended warranty. Sony, Panasonic, and Pioneer are top rated for reliability according to Consumer Reports. I feel very comfortable with the purchase of the Kuro on the American Express card. When I bought the Kuro from BB I stayed focused just on the TV. No extended warranties, BB financing, cables, blu-ray players etc. |
