Default Having trouble burning BDP-S1 1.60 Firmware update with Nero...help!! - Solutions

So far I've been able to successfully download the firmware file all 51.5 MB (54,019,584 bytes of it) with not problems I even get as far as the burning beginning stages, but...

From Nero smart start menu:

* select burn image to disc (ok) it opens my nero express menu and my ISO file under "all supported compilations and images", I select the UPDATE_BDPS1_VER160.ISO extracted file and the click "Open" it opens it to the nero express image: (box) as " C:\My Images\UPDATE_BDPS1_VER0160.ISO " and the distination drive screen, when I choose next it tells me my computer compilation cannot be written on this kind of disc. Please insert disc of correct type or modify the settings of your compilation to make it compatible with the current disc.

Why is it not accepting the blank DVD-R as a writable disc for this file?? it's driving me nuts!!

Thanks for any assistance...

Nero>DVD>Copy & Back up>Burn Image to disc>

You should have saved the sony file to your desktop already and unzipped it.

With nero now open, select ALL FILES under Desktop

you should now see the ISO file, select it.

Select Disc Image

Put in the DVD and burn it. Thats all it should take.

Thanks, after reading my post again I realized that I'm think I'm not articulating my problem well due to my frustrations..sorry...

As you stated; that's essentially what I'm doing, only difference is I'm using different folders. The problem occurs when I'm about to burn...it's kicking the DVD-R out saying its not the right disc......I double checked the burner to see if it's working properly and I'm able to burn from disc/hd/disc okay....are there any other small files online that I could try to burn to DVD? Thanks.

Sony is supposed to be sending the disc to me, but who knows when that will get here right?...and I can't believe that this simply download won't burn to dvd....it pisses me off when there's no support for the simple questions...everyone charges $50-$60 per call; what a rip...

Simple, works with most drives...

I dumped Nero a long time ago, too many issues.
I now use Roxio 9 on this machine, and Cyberlink 5 on my A Series laptop.

ImgBurn should do the trick - FREE!!

If that doesn't work for you, try Sonic RecordNow!
I've been using it for the last 2 years and it does everything I need it to do on CD and DVD.

Thanks. I just finished burn 1.60 and 2.0 with MagicISO Maker v5.4 it seemed to do the trick...funny thing though with 2.0 I had to unzip the ISO with winzip as I didn't have to do this with 1.60..??

I have nero 6 and realized something, it doesn't allow you to burn an image file to a DVD. only CD. wow, really lame.

I downloaded the free IMGburn software, worked like a charm...

Updated the two BDP-s1's at BB and also the openbox bdp1000's and the display bdp1200. so they are all Pirates compatible

Boy, I thought I was crazy as I was trying to copy the image of the Sony upgrade(s) with Nero. (without success). Thanks to all of you for letting me know that it wasn't me or my computer. I downloaded IMGburn and it worked great. Also, doing the upgrade on the Sony BDP-S1 worked fine as well. Just follow the instructions exactly as they have printed on the Sony website. After you are done with the upgrade, verify your success by checking the firmware version number as they also instruct. Happy Blu-ray viewing!
