receiver help - Blu-ray Forum

My brothers receiver is messed up. When the cable box is on all the speakers work. When the ps3 is on every speaker works except the back 2. Anyone know why or how to fix this?
It is a 5.1 set up and a pioneer vsx 55txi receiver

When I try to do the audio set up on the ps3 it picks digital or optical hook up not the hdmi
When I select hdmi it only picks 2 of the 2 ch. Options not the 5.1 options and then no audio works. It only works when u select the optical option not the hdmi option. Is this a receiver or ps3 or hdmi cable issue?

So you're using HDMI but the PS3 won't send more than two channels when you do so? Seems fishy. Are you set for PCM or bitstream? Set it to PCM and then manually select HDMI audio output. You can also manually select the different formats, but mine's always done well on auto.
