Default Star Trek: Trilogy or Collection???

Okay need some advice here, which one is the one to get? The Trilogy for 32.99 or the 69.99 Collection set? Get me wrong I like the Star Trek films and II and IV are my faves, the collection is a bit out of my price range right now,so is the Trilogy worth getting for $32.99? Hows the PQ,sound, extras and packaging on the Trilogy? II and IV just seemed like the cream of the crop with the Star Trek films in my opinion. This seems like a pretty cheap price for three blu ray discs!!! Especially a release under a week old!

I just bought the trilogy. The three movies in it are my favorites and the 32.99 price seems fair.

I got the collection for $59.99 at Best Buy last week.
($69.99 mis-marked with $10 rewads coupon)
So for that price I couldn't pass it up!

From your post it sounds like you've already made your choice.

DVDTown.com has recently posted a review on the Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection. Here's the URL:

http://www.dvdtown.com/reviews/blu-r...ollection/6993

And Mr.White, why not get the trilogy? After all, Star Trek II and IV are your favorite ones. As far as the packaging goes, for the Original Motion Picture Collection with all 6 movies, the first 6 movies are packaged inside individual thin-sized Blu-ray cases along with a 7th bonus disc entitled "The Captains' Summit". And the packaging for the Motion Picture Trilogy has the Blu-rays of Star Trek II, III, and IV packaged inside the actual case itself, and not in individual Blu-ray thin cases. And as far as the extras goes, the Original Motion Picture Collection has a lot more on every disc than the Motion Picture Trilogy, which has about maybe half of what the 6-movie collection has. Hope this helps!

It's been a long time since I had the older 2-DVD collections of all 10 Star Trek movies, so it's hard to say whether or not the trilogy has all the extras from the 2-disc editions of II, III, and IV. More than likely, they probably are.

I am watching them on a 50 " sony sxrd and they all look fine. Way better than the dvds. All this talk about using to much dnr on the blurays I think patton looks great and these startrek films look good to me too. Mind you I have not seen an untouched patton so maybe I am wrong.

If I could get The Collection for a good price I would pick that up.

if your a big fan of trek, the captains table bonus disc is worth the collection purchase. The trilogy doesn't have it.
