you should be able to just go to it through your ps3 browser? and since one of the last updates, it allows full screen as well. I've done it many times with family guy and the office

I've got the free trial of PlayOn...pretty useful for netflix as well. It's $40 after the trial, $30 for beta testers.

I tried Hulu once out of curiosity and they refuse to stream outside the US.
If they don't want me to download legally then ...
They're asking for it.

if you are trying to stream to a pc then download an IP masker and it will then stream content! IP maskers are free

Default figured i'd grave rob this thread back form obscurity

I've been looking to get rid of my cable bill for a while. first i tried it with an antenna for local stuff then the websites of individual tv stations for the shows my family likes. that didn't work so well. especially because i live in a valley about 20 miles from downtown, where all the broadcast towers are. but hulu seems to be a way i can pull this off finally it doesn't have all of the stations i watch on it but it does have a lot all in one place. i've given it a few tries now and there's a few problems that come up. first if i pause a show to adjust the resolution and let the stream fully buffer it has trouble starting up and has completely frozen the ps3 browser at times. second: i can't login to my account i created. when i try to I just get the "please sign in using username and password" error message next to the sign in box. is there any way to solve those problems?

I have also heard of this "Playon" software. has anyone else, other than cathexist who i PMed, used this software? with this crap economy i'm making about 25% less this year than last so now my cutting expenses is more a necessity than me wanting to be cheap.

and i misspelled the title. damnit

Playon, when it works, is much better than trying to use the PS3 browser, assuming you have a mildly decent PC to run it on. It's stable, the video is higher quality, and browsing channels is much faster and easier. The only problem is hulu changes how their website works from time to time, which usually requires an update to Playon before it'll work again. The good news is that's been happening less often lately, and Playon can update automatically now, so hulu is usually working again within a day or two.

They have a two week free trial, I strongly recommend you try it. The best part is they have a plugin architecture now, so it'll support a lot of streaming sites other than hulu.

thank you. after tooling around their site i'm not sure if i can use it now. i have an older pc as my desktop computer but it doesn't have much power, and the only other pc we have is a toshiba laptop my wife uses. and i don't think that can handle it. is there any way to improve the browser on the ps3 or anything i can download directly to the ps3 to help with this?

For Hulu, that's about as good as it gets as far as I know (tversity does hulu streaming now also, but their system requirements are insane). There's no way to improve the PS3 browser other than hoping Sony keeps improving it through firmware updates. Installing linux won't help (no decent flash plugin thanks to Adobe). What cpu does your desktop have? I use an old AMD 64 3000+ single core, and it works fine with normal quality stuff (480p hulu is a bit much though).
