I know this phone has been out for months now, and I'm pretty sure theres a thread on it already... I just want people's opinion on it. I currently have AT&T, and own the blackberry bold, I'm looking a new change of phone arleady

The phone itself is very bulky, and the "lip" that has the call, home, back, and power buttons makes it kind of awkward to reach the keyboard with your right thumb. Also, the current lack of an onscreen keyboard (which is being fixed any day now with the 1.5 update) was annoying for me, especially when you're not using the keyboard much for a given webpage, but you still have to switch the landscape, open the keyboard, enter your text, close it, and go back to portrait. Yes, that sounds lazy, but when you have to do it a few times in the span of a minute, it's just annoying.
Android is very promising, and I really like the user interface, but after using it for a month I went back to my unlocked iPhone. I switched back mainly because the official developer support for Android really isn't there yet, and as a result a lot of the apps lack polish and feel kind of cheap and amateur. After using the iPhone for almost a year prior to using the G1, the G1 just felt like an imitation that didn't really improve on anything. Yes, vs. the iPhone it has MMS support and copy/paste, but that wasn't enough for me to stick with it. The update process is kind of lame as well. With any other phone I've had, updates are usually provided by the manufacturer, but sometimes by the provider. Either way, it's usually a download that you can do whenever you want. The G1 updates over the air, and is in no way up to the subscriber. You get a notice for the update whenever you're "chosen" and then you install it. Personally that's annoying, as I always like to update ASAP. Last edited by BStecke; 05-18-2009 at 01:15 AM. |

I like Blackberry but hated the Storm when I tried it out. Not really digging the "click screen." Either make it a touch screen or don't. When I tried it out I think it was on the initial software version which was atrociously slow. I heard they fixed that though.

Reviews on Storm is very horrible. I'm an avid Blackberry/Iphone user. For some reason I keep going back to either one of them, that's why right now i own the Bold. I just love trying different phones, I get bored with em afterwhile...then it gets to be expensive after while. Good thing for Craigslist.
They should do phone rentals hehee, for people like me |

It's in the works. A huge let down was no wi-fi so the "2" will have that and I think a better camera but it's not a huge difference. The Storm takes some getting used to. As BStecke stated..a lot of people hate the "click" it's supposed to simulate a mouse click. I'm used to it now and I think it's good.
