I have a Panasonic DMP-BD35 blue ray and a Panasonic DMR-HS2 video recorder. My problem is both units must share the same remote codes. I turn one on and the other comes on. Is there any way to get around this annoying problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Check the manual for your DMR-HS2. It should have a couple alternate remote codes, and you should be able to change the HS2 to the second code set to avoid the conflict. If it doesn't have that, I think the BD35 will. Both my DMR-E80 and my BD30 offer this capability, which is provided specifically to allow two Panasonic players to coexist. You will get a message on whichever player you aren't using (something like "CODE 2") when it sense a signal on a Panasonic code set that it's not currently using, but you will just need to ignore that.

In the BD35 go to Settings. Under the "OTHERS" menu select "Remote control code". Change it to either Set Code 2 or Set Code 3. One of these should work. I have a Panny BD35, a Panny DVD Player, and a Panny DVD Recorder. Each one is set to a different set code so the remotes do not get confused. Check out pg 33 of your BD35 manual.

Thanks guys! I was able to change the remote code on my BD35 to code 3. Now the BD35 remote only works the BD35 and the same is true with the HS-2. However, when I press any button on the BD35 remote a message pops up each time on the HS-3 that says "check remote". Then when I press any button on the HS-3 remote the display on the BD35 reads "set 3". Again the machines are working independently from each other, but the messages make me think something still isn't quite right. Is there something else I need to do?

I obviously got the specific message wrong, but my DMR-E80 is behind a door now and my BD30 has moved out of the den entirely so I haven't seen them in a while. This is happening because Panasonic is trying to make sure you don't change the remote code on a player or remote by accident and then end up with no idea what is wrong with your player - this is a troubleshooting indicator. There's no harm from it. You'll have to just ignore it. |

That wouldn't make any difference. Both players are capable of recognizing the same remote codes, and even after they are set to respond to different sets of codes they will still flash an indication on their front panels when they sense commands from the other set of codes.

That is true. I have a Harmony 550. The players still flash the set codes. After about a week you will not even see them flash anymore.
