UHD - HDR
BD - overall winner for me. I prefer a picture that is free of DNR/EE over HDR. |

Yeah I'm glad I skipped the UHD.
Just look at the fine details in the clothes and the hair, compared to the UHD, where most is missing. EE can't create new details. https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...115785&i=6&l=0 |

I watched the BD last night and was blown away at how stunning it looked. Almost 4K quality style presentation of what the actual 4K should've been!

On my Panny UB900 I have Luma high on 3 and Luma Mid on 1 Both Chroma +EC on 0 This is for 4K HDR That fantastic HDFEVER article that you mentioned, has now sadly disappeared. I also have reality Creation on 20 for SDR and 55 for 4K HDR on my Sony X95J without noticing any adverse effects. TIA |

OK, thanks. Would you happen to know if that HDFEVER review is available anywhere else as it's not on their website anymore? Thanks.

I haven't compared the regular Blu-ray to the uhd, but I'm currently watching the uhd for the first time and it doesn't look bad. People are definitely exaggerating. I expected it to look like dog s*** with all the comments on here. It looks fine, actually dare me to say it looks pretty good.
Edit: Just did a very quick comparison between the regular Blu-ray and the uhd. I see what people are talking about now. The Blu-ray looks sharper but the dynamic range and wide color gamut is hard to beat on the uhd. I'll still pick the uhd as my viewing preference. However, I would pick up a remastered uhd in a heartbeat, as I really like this movie. Last edited by panasonicst60; 08-03-2022 at 06:05 PM. |

The blu ray is too sharp thanks to sharpening. The UHD is too soft thanks to ye olde DNR. In addition to the HDR, the UHD has Atmos which I think makes it worthwhile.
