of course AMC Lincoln Square doesn't have it, so stupid, even though they did alternating 70MM/laser showings of "Dunkirk". although they do have laser so it'll still be in 1.43 and look great and I've given up hope for us in the D.C. area, looks like no 15/70 at all anymore, what a damn disgrace

I am scratching my head one this one............ why on Earth is it ok for Bay to film his shit in IMAX vs other directors who might want to share their vision by filming scenes in IMAX don't do it? Yeah I know it's expensive and challenging, but it does pay for it self many times over am I right? I totally lost count of how many AR changes there were in TLK..to what could be utilized in certain scenes in TLJ based on the first trailer.

So I did a custom Google Map of all the non-dome IMAX theatres in the USA that regularly show commercial movies. I've included what kind of projection they have and screen sizes from the Large Format Examiner database in what's hopefully an easier to use format.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cD...9A&usp=sharing

I might add Canada, the UK and Australia eventually.

BFI confirmed earlier today that it will be digital.

Very cool. The links I have for a map like this are all out of date.

FYI, you're missing the IMAX near me which I frequent most:

Goodrich Randall 15 IMAX
550 N Randall Rd
Batavia, IL 60510
70' x 44' screen
2k projection

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the BFI have IMAX Laser projection?

If so, that shouldn't be a problem. Laser IMAX > IMAX Xenon all day.

Because explosions are amazing in IMAX, and IMAX and Bay know this.

Plus, IMAX cameras are expensive and only a handful of directors are chosen to use their equipment for reasons unknown (i.e. Brad Bird, Chris Nolan, Zack Snyder, Russo Brothers, JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson, etc.)

What designates whether it's a red, yellow, or green pin?

Don't remind me.

At least we have Lockheed in DC and Airbus in Dulles.

Red is IMAX Digital, yellow is IMAX 15/70 film, green is IMAX with Laser. It says as much in the description but most of that is hidden and you need to click the little box to view it.

Also, I've updated the IMAX map with the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.

I logged on early for the Science Museum and was placed in an e-queue. Managed to bag double bill tickets with TFA/TLJ for me on opening day and two, better TLJ seats for me and a friend the following Monday.

I got seats for Friday December 15th at 11:30PM at AMC Lincoln Square, on the laser IMAX screen, took me hours to get them but perseverance paid off for once

Nope. Why do you think I'm whinging like I am? The BFI have 2K xenon or 15/70. If it's not 15/70 then it's 2K by default, as doubly confirmed by Anton's post above. The premier IMAX in the whole country gets a ****ing 2K digital presentation, what's up wit dat?

It's a sad, sad irony that I've seen the trailer in 15/70 at the BFI (in front of Dunkirk) but the movie isn't going to be afforded the same courtesy. Whoever decided this - Disney, LFL, BFI, Odeon, whoever - you should know you're a douche.

I wasn't paying attention to the last couple of posts.

That's strange. If anything needs an IMAX Laser upgrade, it would be the BFI. With something like The Last Jedi, I think the push for more 15/70 should be more aggressive (that way I don't have to travel all the way down to DC or Dulles to watch it in IMAX Laser and instead go to the Maryland Science Center like Dunkirk)

I am in the same boat. There's no laser projection at my IMAX theater either. I saw Spectre in 2K xenon and it was awful. It just looked like a big cheap LCD TV. A 2K projector simply can't hold up on a screen that large, even if it had top notch color.

It's a shame because I really like that theater but as a result I only go there once every few years when they have an IMAX print to show.
