My first LIEMAX 3D experience (Ant-Man and the Wasp)-
Image quality was better than regular 2K projection. Sound was good. But for someone who has seen films projected on IMAX 70mm in real 1.43:1 15-perf IMAX, six to eight storey tall screens, watching an "IMAX" screen barely two-storeys tall was a crashing disappointment. I could see the entire screen by sitting at the centre row, on the centre seat. That's not what IMAX seating should be like. The centre row wasn't the optimum place for 3D and my eyes pained throughout the show. The 3D was better than your average screens but surprise, I could clearly make out the pixellated jagged edges. This is one of the smallest IMAX in India now, with only 23 seats in a row. The auditorium smelled good though. I just can't imagine watching Chris Nolan films here. This auditorium won't do his large-scale filmmaking justice. This IMAX indeed felt like "television in public." Photos - WP_20180725_12_01_12_Pro copy.jpg WP_20180725_12_01_05_Pro copy.jpg |

It's not like when I saw Dunkirk in the real IMAX but it was close in its own way. |

Yeah it just closed up in NYC a couple weeks ago. Does sound like there will be a DCP run coming up soon, so may still have a chance to see it on the big screen for its 50th anniversary release.

70mm on that screen is glorious. Tickets are worth every penny. |

There is a limited 15/70 re-release of The Dark Knight coming up next month, but just four locations so far (though I hear there is some push on social media and even from IMAXes that have working film projectors to expand the release, so possibly but unlikely that plays in the Great Clips IMAX). |

No, the 70mm is playing at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens starting today (Thursday).

http://www.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb...1;t=012289;p=5 Though I found from reading about the 70mm re-release that it does sound like it will get an IMAX conversion for an August 24 release. If that is accurate, could explain why WB had been limiting Dark Knight showings. I do think an IMAX laser showing (assume it would be digital and laser only) at Lincoln Square would be great to see, but even if they reserve that screen for more Dark Knight showings, I would probably still go see it at either Empire 25 or Kips Bay. |

BTW if anyone in the States/Canada is seeing Fallout tonight, watch out for a possible 4-min First Man preview...

So I'll be in an area with 3 "IMAX" screens nearby next month (when The Meg will be playing) and I was wondering is there any way to find out the size of these screens to see which is the biggest? |

By the way, 'The Meg' is constant 2.40:1, from what we've seen so far. There is no indication that the IMAX version will have an expanded aspect ratio. I'd suggest watch it on the biggest Dolby Vision screen instead, with 64 speaker surround sound. And don't hate sharks. They are not monsters as portrayed by Hollywood. They are a key part of the ocean ecosystem and are being driven to extinction by vile human beings. 'Jaws' helped demonise sharks in the minds of audiences worldwide.
