saw 'Rogue One' for the third time today, but first time in IMAX-laser 3D; and while it looked great, I think this was the first time where I thought the audio/volume level was overpowering (i.e 'too' loud) The IMAX 12-channel mix was aggressive in the side channels and in the fronts, but unlike Atmos, the few overhead cues seemed better integrated into the overall mix. |

Compared to Udvar, which is better?
The only reason why I stay on the East side for my movie going experiences...and stay away from 495/dc area unless I have to. Glad someone on Udvar's fb page finally came out and said (even though I knew the answer thanks to you guys) that Rogue One was presented in Full Frame IMAX for select scenes. |

![]() I saw Rogue One in Lockheed Martin IMAX and it stayed 2.35:1 throughout. Perhaps the large screen increased the overall scope of the movie, at least that's how I felt. |

Nah nah, you are off by like 9,998 times ![]() I get the hint lol. There are no full framed Imax scenes in Rogue One. Just Pray that someone doesn't have this brilliant idea to say, "You know what? Lets release two versions of the movie. The final cut in 2d, and the directors cut featuring 20 minutes of extra footage only available in the 3d/IMAX showing." That would drive 3d/IMAX sales thru the roof. |

Udvar has better seats, but not better auditorium seat configuration. Udvar has a bigger screen than Lockheed. Udvar has free ample parking after 4:30pm - Lockheed has free (street) parking all day on Sunday Udvar plays more commercial feature length movies than Lockheed Udvar has Willards BBQ near by ![]() Lockheed has 'Sci-Fi Sunday' movie showcase ![]() |

I saw Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in IMAX laser tonight, and noticed the end credits included a "formatted for IMAX 3D" tag (which Ghostbusters and Fantastic Beasts also use) but don't recall image expansion (maybe in the prologue which recapped the events of the series so far). I will say my friend and I chose to seat pretty close so the scope image would basically fill our field of view (not too hard with a 98 foot screen), but still I imagine any IMAX formatting would have been brief for me not to catch it. Does anyone know what sequences used IMAX formatting?
I will again say I've been very impressed with the picture and sound quality of IMAX laser, and it handled the brightness and black levels of the movie extremely well (important cause it's probably the darkest film of the series visually by a significant margin), though the film uses a bit too much shaky cam and certainly too much rapid fire editing (I always hate when a action scene becomes so chaotic that you can't follow along as it diminishes the intensity and excitement) which isn't the best way to appreciate the impressive visuals being thrown at you. |

You would think that being advertised as the final movie that they would go all out in their budget for true IMAX scene filming and spend better time in editing. I have already read the reviews and read the plot spoilers on wikipedia and I am like that's it for the final movie????

It is unfortunate that IMAX has pretty much ditched 15/70 but movies with a 15/70 need a very long theatrical run just to break even for print costs before they make some money. It will be very interesting how they handle Dunkirk. Those 15/70 prints need a lot of time in the theater. I have now seen IMAX laser, I am good with it. I would see Dunkirk just to see the difference between IMAX film and laser. Interesting enough, Warner has changed the wording of 15/70 IMAX to just IMAX Film in their advertising. |

Well, "15/70" means **** all to the average person. But there's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that there will be a 15/70 run for Dunkirk, however limited it may be. It kinda helps that the biggest IMAX cinema in the UK isn't deemed worthy enough of a Laser install, and running nothing but 2K digital there is a ****ing insult so as long as the BFI IMAX doesn't get Laser then 15/70 will carry on until the bitter end.
