It's a sad, sad irony that I've seen the trailer in 15/70 at the BFI (in front of Dunkirk) but the movie isn't going to be afforded the same courtesy. Whoever decided this - Disney, LFL, BFI, Odeon, whoever - you should know you're a douche.
I'm currently living in London at the moment for school (I'll be back in the States for Christmas, hence my opening night tickets in NYC and then of course back home in the DC area another time) but I'll probably check out the 15/70 print at the London Science Museum in January, any thoughts on that screen vs BFI's?

Absolutely no idea mate. The BFI is the only IMAX for me

I have been to both. The Science Museum is smaller but it is still massive.

According to Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BFI_IMAX:

"The BFI London IMAX is the largest cinema screen in Britain. It measures 26m by 20m with a total screen size of 520m². However, if showing a film with an aspect ratio of 2.39:1, only 283m² of the screen will be in use, or 365m² for a 1.85:1 film. The auditorium seats 485."

"The London Science Museum IMAX. 24.3m by 16.8m with a total screen size of 408m² (247m² for a 2.39:1 film, 319m² for a 1.85:1 film)."

Heh, the Science Museum's screen is a true 1.44 ratio while the BFI's is indeed 1.3 as Anton previously stated.

I might add Canada, the UK and Australia eventually.
Hey how do you get the specs of the screen from each theater? I was looking at my local Regal IMAX in Manassas, VA and it reported nothing. I have taken observations of that screen and how it masks the image during full frame IMAX presentations that just leave me with a "?" every time I see a film on that screen. How can i contribute my observations?

Also found these pics on the interwebs: although it doesn't list the Science Museum you can estimate the relative size using the measurements of the screen (24.3m by 16.8m).

Typical, the Bournemouth IMAX gets bulldozed the year before I move down here. Balls.

They are way out of date, I was looking at compiling sizes and doing a new one.
The Intersteller ones are newer and the new I sense in Bournemouth is bigger than most IMAX screens in the UK.
After hours and hours I got tickets for Jedi at the BFI.

In keeping with the Nolan theme you should do a Dunkirk one for 2017.

But most of the screens will never be used for those films...

As in no 70mm Imax scenes in 2049 and only a few (TBC) in The Last Jedi.

I watched Bladerunner 2049 at the Leicester Square Empire Superscreen, but I was sat way too close and it was pretty nauseating. Thankfully, not being a film of quick edits, I survived!

LOL I remember some girl at the BFI said "oh I've been to the Superscreen at the O2 and it's way bigger, definitely".

When is the UK getting a Dolby screen? How many Atmos setups does the UK have?

That theatre is in fact on the map - 2K projection, 51.7' x 30.1' screen, 1.72:1 ratio. I get the measurements from the Large Format Examiner website.

You can just let me know on here in a PM if you have something you want to add.

Eh, the laser Atmos setup in Bristol is fine by me, and the isense was stunning for PQ on 2049.

While I would love a laser setup for the BFI and you know I can see it's flaws, I love the scale of it all

What I always see at that IMAX screen If it's just a regular movie projected on an IMAX screen, we get letterbox which is fine...but if any real IMAX scenes are shown (TF:TLK) then I get this image.

Except the left and right parts of the image expand except for the bottom part which remains masked. ugh

Presumably the projector image is off-center from the screen. The screen is 1.72:1 while the maximum height of an IMAX Digital image is 1.90:1. So it'll never fill the full height of the screen unless they crop the sides off. Or are you saying that bottom edge doesn't move at all?
