Has anyone heard if there will be any 1.44 AR showings for No Time To Die?

So Udvar Hazy still isn't showing hollywood movies in the IMAX screen for some reason. WTF?!?!?!

Shang Chi was great in IMAX however the entire presentation was in full frame at Regal Manassas Imax and not letterboxed. Credits said it was "formatted for IMAX" You can really tell when it is an IMAX filmed scene but with this movie it just looked like they stretched the frame to fit the screen so no letter boxing.
I don't know if that was notable in other IMAX screens or just that one I went to.

There's no way they're going to stretch a frame in a movie theater. That's the kind of crap you only see on TV.

Not sure what you mean, the whole movie was supposedly filmed in IMAX and the aspect ratio should be 1.90 : 1 in the IMAX version.... All non-IMAX theaters are showing it cropped down to 2.39

To clear up some confusion to my comment earlier...my local IMAX theater, Regal IMAX in Manassas, VA will show a movie on their IMAX screen in letterbox mode...however when an actual IMAX scene does show up, it will fill the screen, HOWEVER the lower part (say about 3-4 feet?) will not be shown. A bud of mine who worked there said that if they tilted it any lower then anyone sitting in a certain row will cast a shadow. Rather than masking it off they just leave it so you have that weird gap.

10 Rings didn't feel like it had that scope I am use to when a movie filmed in IMAX is displayed on screen. I did noticed that when BW was playing on the same screen, it did change AR on certain scenes. So this is why I was scratching my head with 10 Rings.

yes, all of 'Shang-Chi' for IMAX is 1.90 - and even though I saw it again, in 2.39 this afternoon, I'm still both confused and impressed how the full image was not compromised in making it 'wider'

The image looked fantastic, bright and colorful, more so than the standard DCP on a Barco laser projector system, obviously IMAX DMR'd the image to their specifications, but the Dolby Atmos sound design is superior and exquisite, the flowing of the music all around and over is ethereal at times.

and yes, the wait til Udvar Hazy Airbus theater begins to bring the Hollywood fare is super annoying, the downtown theater is closed due to the museum's renovation.

it was SO STUPID, they closed the Natural History museum IMAX screen.

How are so many people constantly talking about Dolby Atmos here? Its reach seems really low nationwide. Not sure if Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos are the same thing though. I'm seeing a few more Dolby Cinema than Atmos. Is it only at AMC locations?

Dolby Cinema is an AMC chain exclusive, Dolby Atmos any theater can install and feature. There are far more theaters that have Atmos systems then there are Dolby Cinema auditoriums. If Regal ever their got shit together, they would and should make ALL their RPX screen feature Dolby Atmos, offering only 7.1 seems like a cheap cost effective move and not feature a full on 64 speaker sound system.

I am still confused as to why they are opened to showing 45 min "ooo....awwww" 45 min fluff yet they won't show any hollywood movies.... Poor Air Circulation? Nah... No system for blocking out seats to the left and right of your seat? ...just put up signs blocking off seats. Not enough staff??? maybe. I really wish they would just come out and say something.

Anyways they are missing out on showing off what that projector can do. We already missed out on BW/TSS/and now SC. Perhaps they chose not to rent films from the studios because of the constant push backs on release dates and they aren't going to do anything until Hollywood stops this shit?

Anyone else's measum IMAX theaters stop showing Hollywood movies?

As of September 2019:

There are now over 200 Dolby Cinema installs worldwide and Dolby has committed to an additional 200 sites worldwide. There are now more than 4,800 Atmos-enabled cinema screens in 90 countries.

Is there a site that lists them? On this site, I'm seeing 6 pages of Atmos locations for Shang-Chi, and 9 pages of Dolby Cinema locations (all AMC). So the Atmos-only theaters number less than the Dolby Cinema. Much harder to find Atmos-only around here, with only 4 locations in PA, NY and NJ.

I think in NoVA AMC and Alamos has Atmos. Tyson's corner and Ashburn comes to mind.

Godzilla Vs. Kong was so ****ING AMAZING in Tyson's Atmos.

Don't understand why doesn't AMC expand more westward instead of stopping at around the Airport. Plenty of areas to give Regal some competition.

that list is somewhat helpful but it's not concise, the Showplace ICON The Boro for instance has 4 auditoriums that have Dolby Atmos systems. AMC doesn't even bother to list it's Prime auditorium at it's Rio Gaithersburg MD theatre in having a Dolby Atmos system, when in fact it does. ('Shang-Chi' is on said screen). Regal Kingstowne's (Alexandria, VA) RPX screen also has a Dolby Atmos sound system, also not included on the master list.

oh yes, GvK in Atmos at Tyson's WAS amazing !!

'Old' in Dolby Cinema at Tyson's was also stunning.

Alamo's Woodbridge 'Big Show' Atmos system is fantastic as well. A great screen, but the drive there and back to and from upper NW DC is a major b!tch.

the future Crystal City and intown DC Alamo's will also have Dolby Atmos systems on the largest screens.
