That image with IMAX info for No Time To Die seems to be fan made. I don't know if we should trust it.

Seeing as how their production costs have gone way past what was initially budgeted, it has more to do with cash outlay then confidence in the movie.

They still have additional marketing costs coming - not cheap either.

I’m glad that the 3D Blu-ray maintained the frame breaking effects as well as opening up to the IMAX ratio during the final battle. Stuff like that keeps me rewatching an otherwise mediocre unfunny film.

^ well I thought otherwise, but I'm not going there - Anyhoo - IMAX nowadays is just big ol gloried 1.90 large screen, gone is the 3D, gone is full screen 4:3 (4:3 screens in general) movies, the slow roll out of the laser 12 speaker systems, not even bothering to remix in 12 channel - IMAX relevance is serious slipping

Giant-screen cinema company Imax and Greater China exhibition company Broadway have struck a deal to build four additional Imax theaters in mainland China’s biggest city Shanghai. The agreement means that Imax is on course to have close to 1,000 venues in operation in mainland China.

NTTD is getting some 15/70 prints? I know anton wouldn't just make that up but lordy I hope it's true and that the laserless BFI IMAX gets one of them! I'll gladly make the pilgrimage into Lahndon to see it if that's the case.

edit

though from looking at the twitters that graphic is from February and Anton doesn't actually know whether there will be 15/70 prints or not. Harrumph, sirs.

edit the second

....and in another post there's a reply from the BFI that they will only be showing it in 'IMAX Digital'. £100 and a six hour round trip for a fookin 2K Xenon showing? Fook off

Geoff:

What about the Odeon Leicester Square? Isn't that where TENET played in 15/70 IMAX?

No sir. They don't even have 15/70 there IIRC. 4K Laser, and not 1.43 at that. (Tenet was shown in 15/70 at the BFI.)

Ahhhh - OK thanks. Not looking good for 15/70 IMAX print in Bond's backyard is it.

This is why all Imax versions of films should be available on home versions. Way too hard to find real Imax theaters.

But IMAX isn't 'real' anyway most of the time (just a movie shot on x digital camera and shown without 2.39 mattes on a 2K projektor in 1.90) so I'm not cut up about the lack of most "IMAX" versions on home video - it's not much more than a marketing gimmick today.

Not that 15/70 isn't a gimmick in itself but it's one hell of an expensive, annoying, fiddly and general pain-in-the-ass gimmick to use and filmmakers like to get their money's worth from it, and so do I if I'm going to view an "IMAX" film or pine about it on home video. Wouldn't be so bad if the BFI had a full 4K laser setup in lieu of a 15/70 version, but it's still using 2K Xenon AFAIK. Blech.

I saw this in RPX 3D. Sat all the way in the back and still jumped at the frame break scenes (the one where the first ghost spits at the character). Holy shit that was good. So So movie but the Frame Breaking was great in 3d. I don't know why but Resident Evil Afterlife 3d came back to me with strong memories of Frame Breaking.

Now that's good 3d.

As rubystone365 reported here, Regal will be showing 5 different older movies in ScreenX this month on various dates, including WW84, Aquaman and Bohemian Rhapsody. Price is $7 at my theater.

Harry Potter 1 is also being shown a couple days this month in 4DX for $8. Good, cheap way to try out the 4DX system.

Geez.
I thought Barco Escape was bad enough. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the theater...

Not near me... although one theater near DC is showing it. Gainesville still hasn't done shit to upgrade to Screen X even though the equipment is in the damn building!!!!!
