Hey folks

Saw Shang Chi in 3d 4dx Regal in Ashburn on Saturday....

Holy ****. That was incredible. The 4dx worked well for this movie. I will tell you that there is a shit load of shaking when that dragon joins the battle at the end. I swore I saw my stomach jiggle so much that I burned a few thousand calories lol.

At the end of the movie I had to pee real bad. Like over a minute of peeing. dunno what happened lol.

Because all the open matte shots in IMAX are composed for the wider ratio (like 2.39) within the open frame, as most non-anamorphic widescreen movies in 2.39 shot in Super-35 are within 1.33, 1.85 movies within 1.37, etc, etc, just like Peter says

otherwise the movies just wouldn't work on non-IMAX theaters (99.9%)

What the a 35mm or IMAX format camera would see:

and how the normal theater would see it in the 2.39 ratio shot was composed for:

Jusat to clarify something . . . There are no IMAX Digital cameras like there are 15/70 IMAX film cameras. They are all Arriflex LF (Large Format) cameras with IMAX's name on them. Some productions use Arri lenses while others spend more money and use Panavision lenses.

I'd like to see a 4K disc that combines the IMAX ratio with the ScreenX ratio. More on top and bottom and the sides.

Finally a screen that can do the UltraScopeHipraPanavisionSuprascan120fps32perfIMAX 5Kcut justice.

I was really noting how the IMAX framing in 1.90 and it didn't seem, to me, there was headroom above or below to crop it to 2.39 - regardless, both versions seemed perfectly framed.

I know it's just a demo, but does it really have some scenes on the center screen and then expand during actiony scenes?

That's essentially how ScreenX works.

What a gimmick. I'll stick with my 3D and Dbox and watch the movie as intended.

And now you're going to tell us that 3D and Seat Shakers aren't a gimmick? You watching a movie or on a theme park ride?

3D and moving seats seem like a much bigger addition then some extra screen at the side where literally nothing happens. Admittedly I've never seen anything with Screen X, but from that demo video it doesn't really seem like it adds much if anything.

How impressive would a YouTube video of a IMAX 15/70 demo look on your computer monitor.

It actually comes the closest to what audiences saw the very first time they viewed Widescreen: This Is Cinerama: HUGE deeply curved screen with 2.65 AR.

You can't really have an informed opinion about something you haven't experienced personally.

For me, ScreenX makes movies 200% more fun, and I wish all action-adventure movies could be released in ScreenX format.

I'm not going to a Screen X. I've listed my reasons already. But it seems like a movie takes up your entire peripheral vision, and you have to be seated a very specific way- without turning, moving your neck, etc. I feel like this type of showing only has a couple good seats, and the rest are useless.

I could be wrong, but I'll never know for sure.

I'm saying, if you haven't seen 'The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard' in Imax 3D with Dbox, have you really even seen 'The Hitman' Wife's Bodyguard'?

Was it shot in 3D or just a conversion?

Did you see it in a theater in Australia, Europe and Asia? Because if you didn't, then you didn't see The Hitman's Bodyguard. There is played in it's uncut 116 minutes. Everywhere else got the truncated 100 minute release.

Next time I want to see a movie, I'm gonna fly to where they're filming...sneak into the set, and watch from there.

The only way to watch
