Losing the 3D is not a bad thing in my book, I can't be bothered with it any more.

The trailer looked great converted, I normally can take or leave conversions but the work here looks top notch if the trailer is an indication

It's not the native/converted thing, I'm not one of those fruitcakes who avoids conversions as some of my very favourite 3D movies are converted, I just can't be arsed with 3D in general any more.

Fair enough, I found the audio in the bfi iffy at times.
How is the science museum?

No idea, never been there. Agreed about the BFI, the sound isn't the best but, again, cloth ears here probably wouldn't get much more out of it anyway.

I'm sort of surprised that with Regal being the number theater chain in the US - they have only one RPX screen (REGAL MOORESTOWN MALL STADIUM 12 & RPX) outfitted, showcasing 'The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2' in DTS-X sound. Given with the number of RPX screens in and around the Washington DC area not having Atmos system's maybe Regal has something in the wings to upgrade more theaters in 2016-17. Of course the major stumbling block is Lionsgate is the only studio releasing movies in this sound format.

Well, I sent a message to IMAX's Facebook and I received this, concerning showing Star Wars in IMAX:

Quote:
Thanks for checking with us to confirm. CityWalk will be showing Star Wars exclusively in Laser, and will not be receiving a film print.
Major disappointment. From the looks of it, it seems that if you want to watch Star Wars in true IMAX, you have to find a science IMAX theater that does nothing but play documentaries.

So, has anyone here seen The Force Awakens in laser? How was it?

The scene is 99% digital I am not sure why they picked that one.

Atmos big screen 3dee for me

Even though I have the world's first IMAX laser within driving distance, I saw the movie at my local theater a block away in Xenon IMAX with their new sound system. Looks like IMAX upped the DMR process as the IMAX image looked outstanding. The new sound system is pretty good too, less harsh than the 6 channel unit.

Across the hall was the Dolby (Almost) auditorium, the single projection is too dark and they don't even run the Dolby ad before the movie anymore.

Nice to hear the 12 channel system is great. Was the 3D conversion any good? I'm curious, because I've heard nice things about it.

For anyone who has seen Force Awakens in IMAX- how much of it was shot in IMAX? Was it just the Jakku chase scene (as I saw IMAX cameras on set footage of that scene) which last a couple minutes or is it other parts.

Already saw it in regular 3D yesterday, but will probably go again in a couple weeks when the crowds die down a bit, and was wondering about seeing it in digital IMAX or Dolby Vision laser.

Saw it both in IMAX and then Dolby the next day. IMAX is worth it for the footage but Dolby has the superior visuals and sound. No 3D for Dolby but it wasn't shot in that format so I don't care. I'm gonna see it again in 70mm, which should be the best version.

It's just the Jakku Millennium Falcon chase.

My favorite screen is now the AMC Prime at Empire 25. Even front row seats are good seats, but back row might be too far away.

Lincoln Square Imax just gets crappier all the time.

Just that. The Jakku chase scene felt like 5-6 minutes for me.

Still worth seeing it on the big screen since it's Star Wars and all.
