Just got back. No motion sickness issues, but I've always had a strong stomach.
Frankly I wouldn't recommend going to see the movie at all, but if you do, there's no good reason for PLF. It just made the low quality of the GoPro image more obvious. |

Saw BvS on a 2K DCP today and the 35mm looked so much better than in the 15/70 version. It was a smaller screen to be sure, but man, the difference was remarkable. I've certainly seen far better looking 35mm to 65mm DMR's than that, but given how the IMAX 15/70 format is on its last legs (for exhibition) maybe I shouldn't be surprised. The one good thing about the migration to 4K laser is that they'll be able to integrate the 35mm stuff into the IMAX version digitally rather than having to scale it up to 6K then film it out to 65mm.
The DCP was in a fixed 2.40 aspect ratio, natch, but it made the one-take Knightmare fight scene look less stiffly choreographed (I moaned about that in the main BvS thread ![]() |

did a double feature over at Udvar Hazy's Airbus IMAX screen yesterday - of course 'Batman vs. Superman' the IMAX shot scenes looked spectacular - but again the sound mix is so front heavy thus masking ceiling sourced sound; even in Atmos it's not really a great mix, it's too bombastic. '
The Jungle Book' on the other hand was what makes IMAX-laser such an 'experience' - the colors, the brightness, the 1.85 AR filling up a lot but not all of the screen, and precision sound design of the 12-channel sound mix --- wow! |

Looking forward to seeing The Jungle Book in IMAX on Monday. We are showing it in 4DX and Dolby Atmos screens (both 1:85:1) too so should be great what ever people choose to see it in.
We are showing it in 2D only in one screen which is also 1:85:1! |

AMC's Tysons is showing this on their IMAX-digital screen and it's Prime/Dolby Cinema screen - and the latter is not showing it in 3D... and for $20.19, wow, what a rip off.

I saw Jungle Book had 3D showings listed for the Dolby Cinema at AMC Empire and thought that may be a misprint since everything has been 2D only since turning that screen into a Dolby Cinema and figured that was just a 2D format, but apparently it indeed is the first 3D Dolby Vision title to be released (confirmed by Deadline, but sounds like that version may be limited to New York and Chicago).
http://deadline.com/2016/04/jungle-b...ay-1201738755/ I already got tickets today for 4DX (wanted to give that another try with a shorter film than BvS and not sitting in the front, and had to get tickets early to get decent seats as even a couple days in advance most seats were already gone), but am interested if anyone is seeing it in Dolby Cinema 3D and what that looks like. |

I heard that it would be redundant since there's already IMAX 3D.

I'm thinking that's more of it, given Dolby Cinema can do 3D releases if they are with Jungle Book (wonder if it's a director request in this case) .
BTW, Ang Lee just screened footage for his upcoming movie "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" in its native 3D, 4K, 120 fps format to very enthusiastic responses, and it sounds like they do plan on showing it in at least 3D, 4K, 60 fps theatrically but will probably be limited to just the more technologically advanced, high end theaters. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/an...ns-1201755151/ |

To be honest I can see it coming to HFR theaters with a 3D 2K 60fps version (or a 120fps 2D 2K version, which would use the same bandwidth), but the full-fat 4K 3D 120fps presentations will be few and far between I think. |

Clint Eastwood's Sully, coming in September, is the first feature film shot almost entirely in IMAX (using those new Alexa digital cameras, which are also used on Civil War, and which the Infinity War films are already announced to be the first films shot completely in IMAX).
Apparently Eastwood tried out the cameras and loved them so much that he decided to really focus on them, and IMAX is hoping to have as many as five films a year use their cameras http://variety.com/2016/film/news/cl...ax-1201758250/ |

You mean the first film shot entirely in digital IMAX (whatever that means, since any filmmaker can use the Alexa 65... a taller aspect ratio?).
Unforunately it's still got a long, long way to go before it approaches a 15/70 negative - though of course, with 15/70 projection on the way out, not much point to a >4K master. |

went down to the Air and Space Museum (National Mall) Lockheed Martin IMAX screen yesterday and saw 'To Fly!' - my initial impression is a little mixed, not with the system, but with what IMAX did in remastering the movie for laser. The beginning which uses a ninth of the screen looked hideous like VHS quality - but then when the screen opens to it's full dimension - it's a "holy sh*t' moment - the resolution, sharpness and color is breathtaking. A few nicks pop up, there's minor judder in some panning shots, double imaging in one instance which made no sense. The audio on the other hand was simple astounding, it made me appreciate the music score even more.
