well, i don't know about all of that but i will tell you this, thos short films in the phillips link http://www.cinema.philips.com/gb_en/ for their tv are incredible. i love that type of cinema, independent or imported films with that old world look to them. all of them were very well made and all had the same theme, a unicorn. too bad you can't get all of them on a blu ray disc. that kind of stuff is great and it's incredibly well made, of course, just for phillips!

For 8k you can have a fantastic set-up that will easily blow away any 2d presentation i've seen at the cinema (hell for around $4000, you can get the panasonic ae4000 and black diamond 2 screen, which will make your draw drop).

I have seen the phillips 21:9 tv in person, and whilst it is good, it is no where near good enough given there asking price (and the above mentioned set-up blows it away, even in a brightly lit room with the black diamond 2 screen you will be able to watch wihtout the image becoming washed out).

I don't have a setup like that (yet, hopefully someday), so I was just estimating what it would cost. Anyway, I do think those dollars could be spent a lot better than on that 21:9 television. It's the same thing for that 80000 euro television I once saw in a store, although if you can spend that much on a television, you probably didn't care you could get a projector and a screen for a fraction of that money.

I'm glad you concur! Thanks for the support as well. As for Kung-Fu Panda, I have that bluray as well as watch it occasionally and I'm fairly sure it's not full screen. I always tell myself whenever I watch it how amazing it would look if it were...It may be your TV and/or my memory may be mistaken...
But I will add Star Wars The Clone Wars though...

Thanks again everyone! Please try to remember that the contributions on the list were actually seen with physical eyes that they filled up the screen/fullscreen. There are many other lists and search engines that will list by aspect ratio, but I/we find that many movies are listed one way but display differently (there are many examples of this on the list...).
I will not/do not question contributions...I'm just saying to keep this in mind. Thanks again everybody!

There was a bit of a discussion about this on James Cameron's behalf... he stuck to the full IMAX ratio for the BD because he thought that the taller image benefitted the look of this film, especially the flying scenes so you get that sense of height. In non-IMAX theatres, it was shown in a mix between 1.78:1 and matted 2.35(ish):1 depending on set up (usually the 2D ones were in the wider ratio, the 3D ones in 1.78). Other than that, he says he loves the 'scope' ratio.

Hey! thanks for that info nametag! it's really great! I was wondering why as most directors would keep it scope...
...and i'm sure the taller image benefits the taller Pandorans as well (when humans standing next to them...)
Love the spectacular IMAX fullscreen ratio when they do this to movies;i.e. The Dark Knight and Transformers 2.

Update: I'll get onto the newest contributions later on (few hours)...

Thanks goldenrod for the correction/contribution! I could have sword the animated series was at least fullscreen 1.78:1 because it was made for television...
But thanks for the catch!

It was cropped to 1.78:1 for tv in most casses, though it was composed for 2.35:1 and is presented this way on the blu ray.

I wonder, what are your TV settings if you see those two 2.35:1 movies, as 1.78:1 movies hmm

If i had the money i would have both types of tv on hand lol. The idea of 2.4:1 tv's make me shudder though... not for MY use, but for the fact i know everyone and their brother will set their tvs to FILL the screen despite the OAR. It already kills me just how often i have to bite my toungue at almost every house i go to, not to mention bars. How people do not notice the image is streeeeetched is beyond me, i would hate to see this effect on a 2.4:1 screen, i think i would have to slap someone.

Hey, pinoi, if you would like, on top of adding new movies to the list, I could also go through what's on the list. Then I could match it up with what's in my collection and point out for sure which ratio it displays in. Ya know, to add more organization to the list.

If that sounds like a plan, let me know. I can start checking about 10 at a time and posting them here.

QuasidodoJr, that sounds like a great idea! I/we appreciate the effort and work! Especially since you don't have to and u actually came up with the idea...

I think the way I'll do it then is add a " confirmed " or a "confirmed by quasi" next to the aspect ratio and movies that you confirm...

would really be wonderful and informative to show more movies that say one aspect ratio but display differently.

what you can do, Quasi, is when you make a contribution now, make a section for new add-on movies, and another section for where you confirm movies...what do you think?

Again, thanks again! You really are taking this list to the next level hehe.

Two new to add:

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - 1.78:1
It's Complicated - 1.85:1

and I can confirm the following...

20 Million Miles to Earth - 1.85:1
28 Days Later - 1.85:1
28 Weeks Later - 1.85:1
The 40-Year-Old Virgin - 1.85:1
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen - 1.85:1
Alvin and the Chipmunks - 1.85:1
Saving Private Ryan - 1.85:1

and then one needs to come down...

My copy of Amadeus displays in scope (2.40:1), so it should not be on this list.
