Most of the responses came in the threads reviewing the more recent years, so I'm going to skip ranking the 50s backward by decade and conclude this series by doing what I was leading up to in the first place: ranking my personal top 100. Speaking for myself, going through each decade was a very helpful approach to compiling this list. If anyone else posts theirs, I'll be interested in the differences.

I have a list in the works too and although the list's ranking is important, I have come to realize it's more about what makes the list and what doesn't.

It pains me to knock out The Breakfast Club, but I added The Social Network right after Raiders of the Lost Ark and before The Usual Suspects at #70. Finally saw it yesterday and consider it David Fincher's best film and definitely fitting the "generational film" label. I think it stands along the only other movie from the new century on my list, The Lord of the Rings, as being one that will last.
