Indeed. Granted, I was 11 the first time I watched it, so it's no wonder it went over my head. I kept going back to it, though. I'm glad I did. Each viewing revealed a little more and it wasn't long before it became one of my favorite movies.

The Final Cut is the only version I can watch now. I'm not into revisionism, but the stunt double with the big hair and the dove flying away HAD to be fixed. I'm glad the Blu-ray has 5 different versions, so you can pick which one you like best.

I got that part. But there's absolutely no chemistry between the two is what I'm talking about. I was not convinced that the liked each other.

I actually could care less about the romance. But if it has it at least be convincing. I know this movie has a huge fan base so I will never win a debate. I just wanted to share my thoughts.
I say watch Blade Runner 2049. And after watch the Final Cut. Or just wait and watch the Final Cut then 2049. I do think this movie is a grower not a shower. So maybe you’ll like it more on a viewing of a different cut. If not, oh well. No movie is for everyone!

[Show spoiler]She is a replicant with no actual emotions. Add to that, Deckard is most likely a replicant as well. Neither "person" has experienced any real feelings. It makes sense their love scene would be rather cold.

Decker as a replicant makes it more believable.

[Show spoiler]It's an argument that has been going on for years (is he? isn't he?), but I think it's pretty obvious. Director Ridley Scott also says he is, as does Harrison Ford. It's open to interpretation, I suppose.

Yes, after I watched it, I did a little bit of research on it. I also came to the conclusion (maybe not)that he is.

You're mistaken - Ridley Scott said he was a replicant, Harrison Ford said he wasn't. It's something they argued about for years but have now just "agreed to disagree".

Replicants have no emotions? I think most of the movie points to the opposite.

.
I disagree, I think it was choreographed perfectly in the final act. Roy knew exactly what he was doing and Deckard was the desperate prey.

What about the other replicant fight scenes? No that great.

Against Pris was the worst one imo.

Too bad the Blu-Ray sets with the extra versions are basically OOP now.

"Emotionally inexperienced"

Reps have them, but they lack the experience to put them in context.

Just because those scenes were violent doesn't necessarily mean they needed action choreography. Deckard has an ugly, unpleasant job to do. It would seem cheapened to me if his retirements were 'awesome'.

Definitely. After my first watch I had mixed feelings about the film and it was only upon repeated viewings that I began to appreciate it.

I love the look here, all the way from Deckard entering the Bradbury building, making his way up the stairs, entering the room, seeing the dolls, not knowing one is a replicant. There is tremendous buildup here and I find that scene pretty creepy. Perhaps you're short-selling it by singularly focusing on the fight itself. For further feelings, I will refer to notops reply a few posts earlier. Keep in mind the lines between who's a bad guy and a good guy are kinda blurred in Blade Runner. Otherwise, it is perfectly reasonable the movie left you colder than others.

In addition to it not being an action film, it is also not a romantic film, so don't expect the standard love-story formula.

When you see them together (especially the scenes in Deckard's apartment), remember that she is a replicant and has strong and conflicting emotions about her self (as she becomes aware of what she is). She also feels a certain bond with Deckard, for various possible reasons left to the viewer, but could be because she sees him as a liberator (or at least teacher, given how he knows her memories).

Also, she possibly senses that he too is something of an orphaned soul. At this point, we're getting into the core of Deckard's character and the heart of the story, more of which is revealed in 2049... but it involves his own conflicting drives and impulses.

All of this is debatable, but what is clear is that this is no conventional romance. Remember, this is science fiction.

Chris

I've watched Blade Runner at least 50 times, both theatrical and home video and I can honestly say I still see new things after each viewing, there is so much visual data in each scene.
