I mayyyy actually know what you're talking about. But for me it's definitely NOT throughout the movie, it's just at the very beginning. During-and-just-after the scrolling words explaining what replicants are, there's a series of extremely faint horizontal lines, almost like a ghost image left on your retina after you catch a glimpse of something bright. Very strange, and I've noticed it in every version of Blade Runner since the Blu-ray set first came out. However... I also notice it during the similar "text explanations" shown at the beginnings of Empire of the Sun and Glory. Since it always shows up during the same kind of "words on screen", I'm fairly certain it's a function of my LED projector and NOT something encoded with the content.

Trying to parse this after hundreds of pages. Seems like I should keep my Blu-ray box set because the uhd box set does not contain everything the Blu-ray set contains right?

Does the Blu-ray set contain the 4K BD?

No the Blu-ray set contains the normal 1080p blu-ray.

But it has lots of extras and alternate versions, some of which I think are not in the uhd set?

The 30th anniversary digibook from 2012 has the same content as the 2007 5 disc set, just condensed onto a Blu-ray disc. But the Dangerous Days documentary on the 2012 30th anniversary set has really awful looking on-screen text. Poor upscaling or something, not sure what happened.

Dangerous Days looks way better on the 2007 5 disc set. Other than that, you are good to go.

It was not really a serious question. Sorry if it was misunderstood as that.

But if someone is just interested in getting the various versions of the main movie in the best possible quality, would the 4K BD not suffice?

Just keep the old 5-disc(or 3-disc 2012) set and get the 4K. The 4K does not include the Archival Versions or Workprint discs.

Needs to be said that this single disc repackage doesn't have the Workprint, because that cut was on one of the special features discs in previous releases.

Sadly yes. Copies do pop up on Amazon and eBay from time to time for decent prices though.
