They're saving it for the Super Amazing Ultra 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition, duh!

It's alright, no-one listens to me either, like with the sudden 'news' of the cosmetic changes to T2.

Sounds good to me. I've already got the five disc edition on both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, and since Warner is a company that does the least possible to please their fans I'm not willing to pay them more than necessary to get Blade Runner on UHD-BD.

I've got the 5 disc bluray import but Dangerous Days is on a region 1 DVD I now can no longer play.
Is Dangerous Days in the regular two-disc blu that's been out in the U.K. for years? If so I'll get that cheap and then buy the basic 4K in September.

It was originally included, but around 2010 they replaced it with a single disc edition even though it still said 2 discs on the cover. Not sure what the current status is.

If you want to get around cheap you could look out for the HD-DVD or just standard DVD as the Dangerous Day disc is identical.

Thanks for that.
Ideally I'd pick up the new 4 disc version, but I don't want to wait for it. This release still seems bizarre as far as conflicting dates go with the release so close.

So it's basically confirmed then that Dangerous Day will NOT be in HD now? Or are we still speculating?

When was it ever confirmed that it WOULD be in HD?

Only in our naive theoretical applications of common sense to the capricious whims of Warner Brothers.

Given that we've had zero official indication that it will be in HD then I don't know what you're aksing. It's easier to assume that the three discs mentioned here will be the exact same ones from the 30th anni edition, particularly because the creator of Blade Runner's feature-packed sets has said that he's not involved with this 4K release.

Basically I think anyone who's jonesing for DD in HD or a re-encoded Final Cut BD should abandon whatever hopes they had.

I guess my question is, why was DD in HD ever an expectation (for a lot of people) in the first place? Was it solely Bill Hunt's report? You must admit, that was an oddly specific detail for him to put out there unless it came from somewhere. And assuming that it did, wouldn't that constitute more solid info than any proof we have of it NOT being in HD...or is Hunt really THIS prone to misinformation? I know he's not exactly trusted around here, but I do wonder why that particular specific was even given if there was no reason to give it.

It was supposed to be in HD in the original 5-Cut release, but was bumped down to a DVD at the last minute. Perhaps the same thing has happened again?

Given that this is the same Bill Hunt who repeatedly stressed that Guardians Vol.2 UHD Blu-ray did have Dolby Vision then I think it's fair to say his sources are not what they once were. Blade Runner is with a different studio but the song remains the same IMO.

And Warners don't generally tend to go bananas upgrading the main feature with new transfers and/or better encodes, never mind how they treat the bonus features. Don't get me wrongo, I wanted this as much as anyone but one rumour aside (which no-one else in the newz game reiterated via their own sources) it never remotely looked like happening.

Yeah, point taken in that instance, although I will give him at least *some* credit in that case, because Disney really didn't have any clue what they were telling him (as you say, bad sources). That was also a pretty convoluted situation (the UHD having HDR10 and DV being relegated to the Digital Copy). I'm not excusing the sources, but I can see how someone might think (on Disney's end) that telling Bill that the release did OR DID NOT have DV would be accurate since it was done so strangely. And Bill certainly seemed just as irritated by the mixed signals in that case as anyone could have been expected to be, and passed along the correct information once he actually got to someone who knew what the heck they were talking about.

I guess there's always the possibility that someone passed on bad info from Warner in this case...maybe they saw DD on the disc, and said "yeah, DD is on the 4K release in HD" without really thinking about it only being available in SD beforehand. I guess we'll all see in a few weeks.

FWIW when the bits covered the official announcement they made no mention of Dangerous Days being in HD at all, and they actually state that it'll include the "previous Blu-ray edition".

Anyone know if the collector/special edition is coming to the US? Searched the thread but didn't see it mentioned.
