Warners should release a limited edition with Dangerous Days on VHS.

$30 from Wal-Mart plus tax. $35 and change from Amazon. Why order from Best Buy? Shop around. MUCH better prices to be had on this. |

Because I have $10 in reward certificates, not to mention I get 6% back in rewards for being elite plus. But if it doesn't drop to at least $35 Ill pick it up elsewhere. Gotta love Warners exorbitant prices... still waiting on a drop for Pacific Rim.

So use your certificates on a cheaper title. No particular need to spend them on a Warner title that's so well discounted elsewhere.

Finished watching this last night (please be kind, we have a 3 year old). This transfer is a poster child for the capability of UHD for me. Colors in every sequence possess a real vividness that you can use to show off the potential of this format, and so many sequences really benefit from it too...I've seen the film so frequently but it truly feels like a new experience watching it in 4K with HDR. I did not detect a lot of black crush, and detail was perfect also.
It also shows what's lacking, from, say, something like GOODFELLAS and some other early format releases that you'd wish they'd go back and re-do because there's like a night/day difference between this transfer and that one. Either way, this disc is one you'll be using to show off the capability of the format, it's THAT good IMO. |

Goodfellas was never, ever, EVER intended to look like Blade Runner. The UHD is excellent but, as was just said in that thread, it does not suffer weak and/or poorly mapped HDR display performance.

I certainly realize they're not intended to look the same. No matter what, I still find that transfer mostly blah and minimal in enhancement over its corresponding Anniversary Blu-Ray release. Looks fine, but I personally don't find that transfer "excellent" or a big upgrade over the Blu-Ray, which is the only comparison I was trying to draw...not comparing their source material's respective visual schemes.

Another review. Still positive, but the least gushing I've read yet: http://flix66.com/blade-runner-4k-ul...lu-ray-review/
(reading between the lines, it seems that he saw a huge improvement in the shots that were scanned from 65mm at 8K, and not much in the 35mm / 4K footage) |
