Rewatched it again over the weekend along with BR2049 and, few shortcoming aside (fortunately I'm one of those people who don't see the problematic chroma), it's still SPECTACULAR disc. It was also the first time when I decided I actually prefer BR over the sequel. I still consider BR2049 to be a modern masterpiece, but Scott's film is just exceptional on every level, it's movie magic in its purest form.

PS. The French digi is probably ma favorite packaging ever, I would love if Warner was using that design more frequently:

Holy artificial owl, I can't believe I was sitting on that bonus disc for 7 years, now that's how you do extras! And yes, Dangerous Days is breathtaking.

Does anyone know what's the source of the audio track on the workprint version? I was surprised it has high bitrate DTS-HD MA 5.1 track while the US theatrical / international theatrical / director's cuts are Dolby Digital only.

Ridley's films on DVD/ Blu ray around the time The Final Cut was originally released almost always came with great making of-docs. Kingdom of Heaven, Blade Runner, Prometheus...

I agree, it's stunning! I honestly have no clue what everybody's talking about, as I can't imagine it looking any better than this. Mind you, I'm projecting, not watching on a pixel-sharp TV - make of that what you will.

When the remastered 5-disc set was first released in 2009 the extras were on two DVDs, Final Cut had a Blu with TrueHD 5.1, the archival cuts disc had DD 5.1 and the workprint had its own disc also with a DD 5.1 soundtrack, all of them on BD25 discs (as they were basically HD DVD ports).

When they re-released BR for the 30th they decided to condense a bunch of stuff, putting the two DVDs worth of extras onto a BD50 alongside the Workprint for which they upgraded the audio (but didn't touch the VC-1 video encode) to DTS-HD MA. But the archival cuts disc remained the same and has done ever since, hence the DD 5.1 audio.

I know that's not an answer to the sauce question, but it's how these releases panned out.

Sorry to correct you on a couple of points, but that 5-disc set originally came out in 2007, not 2009. And the 30th Anniversary edition actually did have a new AVC encode for the Workprint. Not that it made too much difference considering the source, but still...

If I'm following the conversation correctly, this one is the specific one being discussed (and the more expensive giftset version that contains this same digibook).

I had thought the 4K had it too, but reading the site entry and looking at the pictures, I'm realizing that's my own disc-swapping, as I had this digibook already when I got the 4K, and I swapped the Final Cut disc 1 for the 4K UHD and kept the other two Blu-rays inside.

EDIT: Especially since that's what they did in the UK:

That said, if you were just asking about the extras in general, then you can also get the 4K or any multi-disc BD and get the same collection of supplements. They're just arranged differently and presented differently.

I have like 4 copies of Dangerous Days now going back to HD DVD. The DVD looks better than the Blu ray with it.

Can anyone who bought this release please confirm the extras/special features it contains?

I can see an introduction and 3 commentaries listed, but is that all there is for this release? TIA.
