Why do you guys are upset? It's just a suggestion, I didn't say I don't want to see them. Just some might welcome the idea of less is more, that's all. I was trying to understand everyone's point of view, I don't want to be selfish. Maybe just my bad English.

People love to b*tch and complain about every little thing. If the situation was reversed, people who be complaining about how they wished there were more Star Wars movies. People can never just be content with what they get.

I kinda hope Q slips into one of these new episodes and quietly explains what that silly little thing they're calling the force, really is.

I feel like they're putting more effort into this "OT homage," than anything else.

I do want to see more. I can't wait until we get 2 or 3 a year.

Tarkin: "The regional governors now have direct control over their territories."

I guess this line is very important to the sequel trilogy.

Heh. I'm VERY glad that it'll get a proper 15/70 outing (rumour had it that Interstellar was going to be the last) but this bit is nonsense: "There will be two 70MM prints running through the IMAX projector to have the film play in IMAX 3D; rest assured it’s not the gimmick post converted 3D".

Why? Because IMAX 15/70 3D presentations naturally have separate prints for each eye, that's how it's always worked and has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of the 3D re: "gimmick post conversion". The fact is JJ hasn't shot a frame of this movie in native 3D so it's a post conversion all the way. Whether it's better than the average "gimmick" conversion will remain to be seen.

Oh, and saying that the 70mm won't get an outing in the digital IMAX theaters is kinda self explanatory too. That 'scoop' from Making Star Wars screams of clickbait to me, even the IMAX stills that he's presenting have been available for months.

Personally I'd love it if there were IMAX 2D 15/70 presentations as well (all they'd have to do is run one of the two 3D prints) because I've gone right off 3D.

I'll second that. Also, while I don't think there is much incentive to see it in IMAX 3D since it's going to be only one IMAX sequence (Unless JJ is screwing with us), I might as well give it a try. It is Star Wars, after all.

Anything ILM touches will be rendered true 3D. And if it's anything like Into Darkness then each scene will have some digital touch up/enhancement.

Even if it was native I still wouldn't want to see it in 3D at the BFI IMAX because the crosstalk is pretty bad from my favourite seat, but I fear that'll be the only way to see it in 15/70, providing that that part of the 'scoop' is true because the rest of it is so badly written and plain ignorant of what IMAX 3D actually is.

That's fine for the VFX work but any hoomans or other practical elements in the shot will still need to be converted, and seeing as how they've made such a HUGE deal about them shooting loads of practical stuff and not relying on CG as much then there won't be much work for ILM outside of space shots or whatever. Right?

JJ Abrams has said that there is only one sequence on IMAX. I read (forgotten where, don't shoot me) that there is only about a minute worth of footage shot on IMAX camera. The rest is 100% CGI shots rendered at 8k then printed to 70mm film. Any truth to that?

There will only be one IMAX sequence, that much is true. Kinda makes ya wonder whether it's worth bothering with for just one scene, but it's a special feeling when those mattes open up (and don't just ping back and forth within the scene which ruins the effect *cough* Nolan *cough*) so I'm gonna catch this on 15/70 if I can.

It's going to be in Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos so that's where my opening day reservation's going to be.

I'll catch IMAX later.
