Having to repeatedly scroll through the same GIANT image over and over for no reason.

It's hell on a portable device.

Common courtesy.

It's also common courtesy not to caps lock.

I didn't think soccer was your thing anyway?

Hi Tob, are you going to go the 4k route soon like me? Just for football alone, it would be pretty special if, like Penton Man mentioned, they can iron out things on the technical side.

Yeah , the whole event (getting the autograph in front of all those people in the stands, speaking with Pele after the match (even though through an interpreter) inspired me for many years to go on and play the best possible football I could throughout my schoolboy and university days. I really think I could have gone Pro if it were not for the knee mishaps. Luckily, as a participant, at least I had motorcycle racing to fall back on for my athletic interest at the time. But I’ve never given up my love for watching the game and even kicking the soccer ball around on occasion.

I remember the funniest things when standing on the pitch of the stadium grounnds with Pele that day…how thick and muscular his thighs were, how shiny his boots were, how the field seemed like a manicured grassy carpet compared to the dirt bowls I was accustomed to playing on, etc.

I know, I know….in my rush to type up the post and get onto other things, I bunched them together. I’ve done it before and I’ll probably do it again.

I will admit one thing of international ignorance though. I never really knew the ‘status’ of the Isle of Man until one of my colleagues enlightened me as we are both cycling fans and have been following this year’s Tour de France with great interest. In this commercial, Mark C. as a young whipper-snapper actually kind of reminds me of me that day at D.C. Stadium, but watching with awe as Pele was playing football, rather than in Mark’s case, with him watching the motorcycle action. The *look* on his face feels familiar to me -

Soccer as an art form, pure and simple. Like watching an operatic ballet but with a football. Pele and Zidane are two such examples. Thanks man, I really enjoyed seeing that pic.

Next time this happens at a ballet let me know...

(I had "Pele's Soccer" on the Atari 2600, he indeed was one of the greatest players ever)

I don't see your point. What has pele's skill got to do with crowd trouble. As with most non- soccer fans, you just don't get it.

If there is a violent fight outside a apple store over a ipad mini, does that make the ipad mini less desirable. (You are the apple fan, right?)

Soccer has billions of people watching world wide. I think I can cope if you are not a fan

To see football in 4k will be amazing steedeel but it will be a while for me to make that switch in the future.

I will wait for things to settle down. Looking forward to it though. Unlike many, I will be sitting nice and close to soak up all that detail.

Cinema is an art form…what does that have to do the daily toxic atmosphere of many audio/video websites containing forum topics related to theatrical movies or movies on home media…..where *opinion* rules rather than accuracy and courtesy to others. Never mind the personal insults thrown about.

I mean really, it wouldn’t be that difficult to print out a random page from just about any internet forum devoted to the watching of movies, bring it into work to have your colleagues (who go out to movie theaters to take in a flick with their families on a semi-regular basis) have them read and their honest reaction would range from something like “these people have way too much money and time on their hands” to “how old are these people…5” to “does this guy’s mommy or daddy work for that company”.

Granted it's ^ all non-violent but, it's certainly not a tribute to the virtues of human social interaction.

Well, to me it's not an art form...that it can cause riots that result in death shows it just seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Even NASCAR doesn't have people in the stands trying to kill each other because their team lost (and no, I don't like NASCAR either).

The billions worldwide - well Hollywood has been accused of dumbing down their films in order to appeal to a wide international audience. The more explosions and mindless action = more worldwide box office.

To my knowledge, Peter is not an Apple supporter, more like to the contrary. Although fictitious, I think this illustrates the ridiculous nature of phone nerd fanboy-ism…

The engineers who built the gadgets (or Engineering in general) shouldn’t be belittled for the lack of self-control of their *loyal users*…be it Android vs. iPhone.

Look at it this way Stee, there is always some silver lining . I’m actually quite relieved that Peter seems clueless to the recent decapitation of a soccer referee as he could have had a field day with the pics of that guy’s head on a pike.

That’s not a bad strategy, especially if you’re not in the market for a new TV right now. Something which *anti-4K* advocates don’t seem to grasp is that yes the ‘suits’ (as a fellow member likes to un-affectionately refer to them as, see https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s+#post7795262 )

Their sole priority in the *4K revolution* is to sell more TVs, plain and simple, and it’s far, far easier to market 4K for home viewers than it is for theater-goes, who pretty much couldn’t care less or are totally ignorant of 4K DCPs to begin with. But I’ve maintained on other threads here, that in spite of themselves (the suits looking to pad their performance evaluations to justify year-end bonuses, etc.) in the long-term, 4K will pave the way to a less costly (cheaper, bigger screens) and a better quality (color\higher dynamic range, HFR, esp. for sports as noted here last January…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...te#post7013442 ) than the current HD video standard(s) we now have.

‘4K’ is a good thing. It’s just going to take some time to get all the ducks in a row as this is a process still in the early evolutionary stages. The content is there for the choosing already…
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ighlight=suits
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=220755

Now it comes down to how best to get it into consumers’ homes (within industry budgets and perhaps legacy interoperability).
