I'm not particularly interested in Coco but it's Pixar and there's a 20 minute Frozen short before it. It's gonna make BANK.

This was my guess from last year for 2017 for the Worldwide BO + Current# :

01 | The Last Jedi
02 | The Fate of the Furious #2
03 | Beauty and the Beast #1
04 | Transformers : The Last Knight #11
05 | Guardians of the Galaxy 2 #6
06 | Spiderman : Homecoming #4
07 | War for the Planet of the Apes #15
08 | Despicable Me 3 #3
09 | Pirates 5 #8
10 | CARS 3 #18

11 | THOR : Ragnarok
12 | ALIEN Covenant #30
13 | LOGAN #10
14 | Dunkirk #13
15 | COCO
16 | Boss Baby #14
17 | Jumanji
18 | Emoji Movie #33
19 | IT #9
20 | Kingsman 2 #20

Totally forgot about Wonder Woman, but I underestimated that one for sure, I had little interest in it and thought I wasn't the only one. Wrong. Did a better job predicting in 2015 and 2016. And ofcourse, every single years there are those surprises we didn't even know about before the actual year starts. So, impossible to predict.

I am most impressed by Wolf Warrior 2, btw. 800+ million without the US! It's not even released in most European countries, for example. That's beyond huge.

So then why did TF4 was considered less profitable than TF3?

TF5, actually. The fact that people can't even remember how many of them there are tells you everything you need to know about the series.

As for the actual numbers, 5 is considered a failure because the domestic numbers have been on a steadily downward track since the second film, and the foreign total dropped sharply from the previous installment. With a production budget of $220 million, plus at least another hundred million in advertising, the theatrical release didn't make any profits for the studio. They'll make a little from home video & merchandising, but you don't spend upwards of $300 million in hopes of making a little profit. This is a big disappointment for Paramount, and they're already locked in on making another one, and another one.

I think my Thor: Ragnarok prediction might be a bit low.

Especially since the tracking is barely above the solo Wonder Woman movie and not even expected to beat Twilight on opening weekend. Justice League was supposed to compete with Avengers since this is the first time the Justice League has ever been a movie. If this movie has a bad rotten tomatoes score it wont have the legs after a month when Star Wars comes out and destroys the box office. This shouldnt have a problem reaching a billion worldwide but im hoping at the very least it can beat the $400+ domestic from Wonder Woman. If this has great reviews i can see 1.2 billion, otherwise it might be around 1 billion with bad reviews. I think Star Wars stops Justice League from doing 1.2+ billion.
Called this weeks ago. Justice League probably wont even reach $300 milion now with all these bad reviews.

ANT, your Justice League couldn't even crack $100mil opening weekend. You still think this will reach a billion worldwide? Better rethink that.

I'll be surprised if it manages to go past the 220 million mark in the US.

Honestly, Justice League deserves to under perform. The movie is so damn shallow and disjointed... word of mouth will continue to be awful.

The fact that Avengers made $103 million in it's SECOND weekend and JL can't crack 100 in its opening is actually quite shocking until you think about it. Avengers was exceptionally crafted with excellent lead ins and was something no one had seen before. Now, JL has to deal with following up the awful BvS which most sane people hated. The production rumors did nothing but scream "train wreck" and Ben Affleck going media stupid at the worst time possible. Affleck turned off so many that a lot of people actually made note of it.

Again, Justice League deserves the flop label that's starting to stick to it.

I'm wanting to go see Coco, but no one else in my family does. I wonder is this scenario is the same for others? I don't see Coco doing well, even over the holiday. I'll probably just end up purchasing it when it releases on blu-ray/digital.

Warning: Rolling your eyes too much might cause a headache.

In my head, Justice League was a 2019 release. I had zero interest in this at the time and totally forgot about it. Does that mean all my -not so bad- predictions are invalid now?

Everyone I know wants to see it. Only one said this: "Why is in theaters again? Saw it on cable last year." (BoL) I can see this doing just fine. Great reviews, Thanksgiving, no competition, certain drop for JL, ...
