Excuse my ignorance but are those two considered giants of the game? I have absolutely no clue about American football? I know Miami and New York are big clubs but that is about it. Oh and Dallas cowboys. Lol.

![]() The interesting thing for this year’s upcoming Super Bowl (and something which I am personally looking forward to) is that if typical weather prevails, for once in quite awhile, American football players will be playing in conditions more similar to that required of English football players ![]() |

This is a tougher one -
Question to all the color experts out there…. See the NHK pic just above the paragraph entitled “Third, colour gamut:”…. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/sony-...1301162503.htm . Got it? Now, as the color gamut of B.T.2020 is depicted in that picture in David’s review (who is a good guy and I consider to be in the 99th percentile of consumer electronics people, so this is no disrespect to him), that with B.T.2020 (the outer triangle) as compared to B.T.709 (the inner triangle), it would clearly appear that there is a greater relative change of the green primary compared to the red primary (see dem two big white arrows). So, question - Is that ^ really true…i.e. with 2020 dem greens gain more than dem reds? Yes or No? Hint, is the CIE 1931 Chromaticity Diagram (which is commonly used) an accurate match to human perceptual color response? Last edited by Penton-Man; 01-20-2014 at 06:50 PM. P.S. b.t.w. small correction to David’s review as to his statement “the Ultra HD gamut is many, many times wider than that of the DCI (digital cinema) system”. To be precise, if the size of XYZ is 1.0 and that is used as the basis (which is the convention) then B.T.2020 is about 1.51 times the size of DCI P3. |

No the CIE 1931 diagram is not "perceptually uniform"; in particular, the green area is "exaggerated", as shown in this diagram (courtesy Wikipedia): The ellipses are "MacAdam ellipses". Any two or more points within those ellipses should appear to be the same color to most people. The CIE 1976 color space was designed to be a (more) perceptually uniform version of CIE 1931. So here it is with Rec. 2020 color gamut (the black triangle) (courtesy Noteloop): (I don't take credit for any of these pictures.) Am I on the right track? ![]() |

Anyway, yes it bothers me but there's plenty movies coming over years still shot on film from tons of other studios. The new SW trilogy for example as Steedeel mentioned. Those are 3 big movies. Actually, why don't you keep those flowers. ![]() ![]() |

For those with audio…. http://movie-sounds.org/westerns/onc...est-1968/bravo
For those without audio, You nailed it! ![]() CIE xyz (1931), which is the pic from NHK in David’s review of that Sony projector, allocates too much area to dem greens. On the other hand, CIE L u’v’ (1976) was created to correct for this by distributing colors more proportionately to human color perception, making it much more useful for comparing and visualizing different color spaces. (in our case, B.T.2020 vs B.T. 709). Now….. if one were to superimpose the Rec.709 primaries graph onto that pic of Rec.2020 as shown using the CIE L u’v’ (1976) diagram, which you’ve linked courtesy of ‘Noteloop’, one would then see that, in fact, there is a smaller relative change of the green primary than that of the red one (dem reds make out better…in real life). For dem numbers guys, Rec.2020 covers a relative area of about 57% of CIE 1976 L u’v’ as compared to about 33% for that of Rec.709…so wees gain about 24% with 2020. |

Well, the answer to one of the movie trailer question was Interstellar (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816692/...ef_=tt_dt_spec) Too bad, as Paramount Pictures is the U.S.A. theatrical distributor. |
