^ If you’re not interested in 4K and still consider yourself a serious 1080p home theater enthusiast, perhaps a calibration is in order…even for your Kuro.

In regards to The Hobbit, following the fairly recent news (and some would say, U-turn compared to the previous distribution plans… http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...t-48fps-360464
At this point, I think the predominant question in the minds of movie fans, esp. theater patrons who have no interest in watching the 3D version of any motion picture, is not with the spatial resolution (i.e. 4K or 2K) of the upcoming Digital Cinema presentation, but rather, the temporal resolution (48fps vs. 24 fps). What I mean is, will a 2D 48fps presentation be offered at more than a token number of venues….if at all? Something which the mainstream press seems not to realize is that, on the contrary as I’ve mentioned before months ago – all DCI compliant projector systems are capable of (and have been so for years) projecting at 48fps (in 2D) without the need of any software or IMB upgrade. |

How far we have come in a little over a year. Check this thread I got a small ding for mentioning 4K as a possible 1080P Blu-ray replacement and here we are discussing is seriously now
![]() I am looking forward to this but It will honestly be a couple years for me to upgrade (maybe this would be a good excuse to get a projector in my dinky apartment ![]() Thanks, T |

I think people will be able to see the difference with less than that. I have a 58" TV and I can clearly see room for improvement in the 1080P image while sitting on my couch.

Same here for our custom wall mounted 47" LED TV. I saw 1080p on an 80" TV at COSTCO the other week. God it was bad; the pixel structure was clearly visible. I think there will even be problems with 4K at that size.
