Anyone have Lost Odyssey? I need an RPG fix but I hear lot's of things abotu DRE with this game. Can you still get DRE if you copy the game to your HD? Like if the problem is inherent in the coding and not the actual disc?

Hey mikejet- how about bolding the big/hyped titles to make it a little easier to find stuff?

I'm currently playing fable 2 and enjoying it quite a bit. Just finished Fallout 3 (on the 360 since my buddy traded me) and plan on going back and getting some of the DLC here pretty soon. Wanted should be coming out for all consoles sometime this year- it just has to pass MS now. Batman looks pretty cool but it's too early to tell yet. Bionic Commando looks interesting as well.

I have Lost Odyssey up on half.com. The wife played it, no problem with read errors or anything that I'm aware of. She didn't finish it though, got annoyed with the save points and one not being available for like 2 hours of gameplay. I'm dumping Infinite Undiscovery for the same reason, 3.5 hours of gameplay and then I have to backtrack because I accidentally ran into a boss-fight (and died) while trying to find the friggin save point. Eiether the developers either don't put a save point before you get to a new area, or they stick it in an out of the way spot so you miss it. Either way, kills a game for me.

I'm done with JRPGs until they pull their heads out of their bums and let ME choose when I can save. There...rant over :P

yes its possible to get dre if your playing from the hard drive. fallout does this for me. also, installing saints row 2 on the hard drive was suppose to help with freezing in the game but it actually makes it worse.

Default Left 4 Dead DLC to be free

Announced today..... the Left 4 Dead Survival Pack DLC will be free. I'm glad to hear it.... because I am also disappointed to learn that as suspected, the two new vs maps will just be Death Toll and Dead Air made vs compatible. This is an AWESOME game... but it really needs more CONTENT Valve!

Yeah, definitely hoping for more campaign mode, but still us PC users got the SDK, so hopefully the mod community can get to work and come up with some cool stuff.

Also....... Mods....... do you think we could get a stick for this thread? It's been extremely orderly so far and it's impossible to find this thread with the search function. I even tried to copy & paste the exact thread name into the forum search and it did not find the thread.

Well, I called it. Sadly Rare are going to restructure which could (will) lead to job losses.

Development pipeline at much-loved Microsoft-owned British studio under review with possible job losses

Microsoft has confirmed to Develop that its UK studio Rare is currently undergoing a 'review' that could lead to job losses.

Coming as part of the organisational refocus already announced by Microsoft Game Studios in January, the move will see the world-renowned studio focus on three new areas, a statement said.

These are: "1) Expand the Xbox 360 customer base by delivering experiences that allow our customers to interact with our content in new and innovative ways", "2) Better support efforts to extend the appeal of Xbox LIVE as a social entertainment network to drive greater adoption across the Xbox 360 customer base" and "3) Continue delivering AAA gaming experiences that excite both our current and future customers".

The studio had already helped out not just on developing titles such as Banjo Kazooie for the 360, but also designed the new Avatar system for Xbox Live.

The Microsoft statement adds: "As we restructure to successfully execute against our shared strategy within this framework, we will be implementing a new approach to current projects in the pipeline that could serve as an industry-wide model for how to achieve a more efficient and scalable development process.
Quote:
In order to achieve these goals, the company is reviewing the current composition of its development teams and there is the possibility that a small number of current positions could be lost as a result of these changes."

Studio manager Mark Betteridge added: “As the entire industry struggles to address the increasing scale and cost of development, we too have felt a need to restructure our current approach so we can speed development and better manage the scale required to create high quality games. With four projects recently underway, now is the right time to make this change.

"Throughout its history, Rare has demonstrated a willingness to embrace new approaches and commitment to delivering game-changing experiences to our customers. This announcement is no different and builds on that tradition as we work with MGS to make interactive entertainment as culturally relevant in people’s lives as books, movies and television are today.”
So it looks like more casual games, smaller teams and more XBL integration from Rare.

Personally I think anything involving restructuring at Rare is a good thing, the guys that get made redundant will find new places to work and Rare will live to fight another day. From what I have heard Rare are very close to the chopping block and this is a last ditch attempt from MS to revitalise their fortunes.

Default Microsoft on RROD: The worst is behind us

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/mi...-is-behind-us/

Quote:
Talking with Edge Online, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg discusses the past and present Xbox 360 hardware situation, claiming that those bleak days of RROD failure are (mostly) over.

"What it comes down to is isolating and figuring out the issue, fixing the issue, and the more that we can fix the issue, and know it's fixed, then we're good going forward," said Greenberg. "We've put the worst behind us on this, but we know there are a few lagging systems, and so we want to take those and make it right."

Hopefully, Microsoft can move towards a brighter future with its more reliable Jasper technology and leave its problematic hardware past behind. Those early RROD days were really, really, really bad and we welcome any improvement in hardware quality. If not for Microsoft's sake, at least for ours. Sending out RROD condolence cards is getting old.

Default Xbox Live accounts hit by email expiry blunder

Xbox Live accounts hit by email expiry blunder

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Microsoft is investigating a serious system design flaw in its Xbox Live accounts system which is leaving some active Xbox 360 gamers with no choice but to start afresh with new Gamertags, deleting any achievements they may have accumulated in the past four years.

The problem stems from the Windows Live ID email address that’s required to set up a Gold membership, and specifically those which are automatically set to expire after a period of inactivity, such as Hotmail.

If a user allows their Windows Live ID email to expire - perhaps because they use an alternative such as Gmail on a day-to-day basis - the email account is deleted, along with any Gamertag that may be associated with it, even if the user has set up additional non-Hotmail addresses in the meantime.

A Microsoft customer services representative confirmed the problem, apologising and adding: "The only alternative is to set up a new Gamertag with your preferred email address."

She added that there was no way around the problem, and that any achievement points gained were non-transferable, and would therefore be lost - despite any user affected still having an accurate, up-to-date profile existing on their own Xbox 360 hard drive.

GamesIndustry.biz has confirmed the problem exists with a relatively small percentage of users, and while the issue does not prevent gamers from playing offline with a Silver membership, it will prevent them from upgrading at any time to Gold status, effectively blocking any ongoing online multiplayer activity - one of the facets which made the service so popular in the first place.

Downloads from the Live Marketplace appear unaffected by the issue, which can be diagnosed via a ’8015d080’ error code when any new subscription attempt is made.

UPDATE: Microsoft issued this statement in response to a request for comment on the problem: "We are investigating this issue and don’t have any further comment to make right now. Any consumer with any issues regarding their Xbox 360 or Xbox Live account should visit xbox.com/support or call their country’s customer support number."

So my nephew in Iraq sent me a message yesterday. They got a 360 that stopped playing games. He said it doesn't have the RROD or anything like that and that it plays DVD's and CD just fine. None of the games are working though. They have been all working fine until yesterday. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

It's IW again. It's going to be the same era as COD4. Modern Warfare part 2.

Disc read errors maybe? If that is the case, and it is set up vertically.... have them lay it horizontal..... it MAY buy some more time.

I GREATLY enjoyed COD4, so I'll get the sequel. World at War...that's OK, but I haven't been playing it other than to test it because I'm enjoying Left 4 Dead far more.

That other 360 that isn't working across the pond...has it been hacked to play copied games? That's what it sounds like to me, Microsoft just caught up with them.
