Understood...

My grandfather was stationed in Egypt during WWII and loved the history, and though he passed 6-7 years prior to "The Mummy" being released, I loved the film and thought of him a lot while watching it. I had high hopes for "The Mummy Returns" and I just kind of walked away feeling "Meh" about it.

On the other hand, I didn't expect much from "The Scorpion King", particularly after seeing "The Mummy Returns", but I thoroughly enjoyed it BIG TIME! Never had any interest in the DTV sequels though...

"The Mummy" (2017) is supposed to hit theaters on June 9th here in the U.S., so I wouldn't be surprised if they're released in May here as well.

have the BDs (1-3, SK), would upgrade part 1, but that's it. returns is a MESS, dragon emperor was a disappointment (and far too removed in time, to the point where it doesn't even fit in the series in my eyes), and as silly fun as SK is, I don't see the replay value in it that I do in the first Mummy. love that stupid little film.

I'd like to get these, so hopefully Universal does them up right. A shame we have to "worry" about this...

Maybe they will upgrade the digital effects to the worst CGI moment in cinematic history.

No please not. Companies should refrain from going full George Lucas on their catalogue titles. Outdated CGI is part of the charm.

Yeah just leave them be. Besides I think everyone knows what to expect from the CGI in UHD. Most important thing here is what transfers they will be using...

That's a fun watch. I don't seem to recall this scene from the Mummy Returns being so godawful when I first saw it -- was I not paying attention?!

Again watch "Mummy Return" bluray. Turn on loud volume DTS-HD Master audio.

Wow! Awesome loud! Bang! Battle people yelled! Silently enter secret tombstone cave Egypt.
Chilly me!

Some cgi in Mummy Return. It's expensive cgi than vfx

Damn good movie. I think fine DTS-HD Master audio.

You can't possibly trust Universal with these: I'm sure they aren't creating new scans for these movies....

I guess re-releasing the old ones on home-video only "links" both releases for nerds like us though, not the mainstream. Also, how could they pass up another chance to milk the Fraser movies, which have been released in every format conceivable, vhs, laserdisc, dvd, d-vhs (not sure about this one), hd-dvd, blu-ray, and of course more than once in some of those formats?

Oh Universal, you better...
are you kidding me??? $$$$ is $$$$, Universal doesn't care about "STYLE"!!!!

It was godawful even by 2002 standards. Ray Harryhausen Claymation would have been far superior. Ultimately I have to disagree, much like the Star Trek TV series with updated effects that were done with such respect for the original series updated CGI for the Scorpion King would be a blessing.

Plus there is a thing called seamless branching to look at the worst CGI scene ever made even when initially viewed in 2002, look even worse in 4K for Sharknado fans.
