LOL, whenever I read that someone won't buy a title because it is not the same height as the rest of the Blus on their shelves, I think of somebody like "Monk" shopping somewhere like Best Buy, picking up all the titles he already has and standing them up in a row next to one he is thinking of purchasing. If it is even a centimeter difference, he would stand there falling to pieces for a minute.

Monk: "It's not the same size."
Sharona: "But you came down here because you really wanted it."
Monk: "But it's not the same size."
Sharona: "You're going to miss out on it...and you really love this movie!"
Monk: "But it's not the same size."
Sharona: (sarcastically) "Would you like me to write to the manufacturer and see if they can issue one for you in the right size?"
Monk: "Would you? Thank you very much."

I think this Digibook think is just stupid, and downright gay.

That's exactly what it makes me think of.

I think some of these people must have OCD.

I'm with you Morphine!

I love the digibooks.

As long as you keep bringing them on Warner, I'll be buying them!

I know this post is destined to piss someone off but too damn bad. I'll pick it up when I can import the keepcase version from the U.K. I refuse to support Warner's Digi-books titles. So far I have bought Bonnie and Clyde and all of the Dirty Harry flicks as imports.

I don't think you are going to piss anyone off (you have too high an opinion of what you think others care about your collecting habits). My only question is if you are in Phoenix, aren't you going a long route to get it from England when it will probably have the documentary (about 96 minutes long) in PAL (since it is standard definition) and you won't be able to play that here? Is this bypassing of digibooks simply because it doesn't go on your shelf nicely with the other Blu cases? Seems silly to me, but if you are willing to pay more for a foreign version and miss out on playing any items in PAL on it, enjoy yourself.

I understand your opinion and totally respect it, but I actually love those Digi-books. I know a lot of people like the consistent packaging, but as Blu-ray moves into the mainstream, this is going to change. DVD did the same thing, and I think Blu-ray will have the occationally different packaging as well. Green for the Hulk, Digi-books for classic catalogs, etc.

I don't care too much for the digibooks... but I buy them if it is a film I want to own.

I think the major drawback for these cases is that most stores who stock them cram them inside anti-theft cases and they look like crap... esp at stores like Borders where they even wrap those anti-theft wiring devices around them basically destroying their product.

One of my local Best Buys started using those wiring devices on their 'Heroes' BD box sets, putting big dents/creases in the boxes. I refuse to buy any BD set (or CD or DVD box set, for that matter) with those devices on them. (That Best Buy also started putting their BDs in anti-theft cases, while another Best Buy in my area recently abandoned them--go figure....)

Why would it piss anyone off? Buy what you like - I don't care, and probably most people reading this thread wouldn't either. I personally think the digibooks are great, and this is a really, really great package. It seems a shame to pass on this for the packaging alone, but that's your choice and more power to you.

Don't forget a UK version will have ugly ratings symbols all over it.

Your comment doesn't really **** me off but I just can't understand why someone would trade a beautiful Digibook with a lot of photos against an ugly plastic case with rating symbols on the cover...

I personally refuse to buy the standard Amaray versions we get here in Austria/Germany and import the Warner Digibooks from the US whenever available (e.g. Bonnie and Clyde, One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest).

Not a fan really. I won't not buy it, but it's not up there on my like list. A book by design will get beat up, corners dented, pages bent/torn, so on so forth.

I am not sure what is worse, using more paper to make these things or using the plastic cases.

I don't mean to detract from the merits of this beautifully executed title, but I wanted to respond to your statement. I happen to have a preference for what you referred to as "ugly plastic cases." Why? They are more resilient to damage and are replaceable. That mostly sums it up for me. They are also an odd size but that is not as much an issue for me. I understand that many like the digi-book format, but in my opinion, Blu-ray discs are too expensive to have cardboard the only means of protection for my investment. My experience with Warner's DVD digi-pak releases is that they become dog earred and dull rather quickly. Plus, I am always worried the spindles will lose the ability to secure the discs. I recently had to return a DVD set to Warner Home Video because the packaging had a broken spindle and a floating, scratched disc when it arrived. I'm no fan of those horrendous rating symbols on the UK packaging, but I can tolerate that more than a case that may lose the ability to protect my discs. I also despise most box sets unles they house individual keepcases for each film. It's just a preference. I hope the studios get the message that many of us just want the movie and a standard case. I don't need steel cases, postcards, lenticular covers, toys and other doo-dads. There is no reason they can't offer both and make the box sets and digi-books a limited issue type of thing for those who love 'em. I want that upcoming Planet of the Apes set but I won't be picking it up until each film is released in a standard keep case.

How the West Was Won will be released in the UK soon. Hopefully, it will be region and cardboard free.
