I've got the Natural Born Killers Digibook and it's not too bad. I know what you mean about Warner keepcases becoming dogeared and faded, but this looks to have some sort of sheen on it that seems different from their older ones. Maybe a protective coating? Ordering blus online, there's always gonna be a chance of a spindle being broke, but as long as you keep it on the shelf when you're not watching it, it should stay in pretty good shape.

I loathe the book style cases. I also don't have a bug up my ass regarding ratings logos, having put up with them since their introduction. I'm just glad I'm not Australian...

I really love the digibook packaging. Bonnie and Clyde in particular is gorgeous.

It's actually more of a 'meh' kind of feeling...

Just received my fist actual digibook, How the West Was Won.

And it's just a gorgeous presentation. The book is really nicely produced, on good paper, with good photos and interesting (if quite brief) text. And the presentation really enhances the special feeling of this particular release -- HTWWW is something else, and only Blu-ray can begin to suggest the experience.

Having seen this film only on TCM before, it was quite a revelation.

Overall, a gorgeous job from Warner, with the Smilebox truly being a one-of-a-kind thing.

Too bad so many other digibooks couple the gorgeous packaging with lossy sound and suchlike nonsense. I can easily see a shelf dedicated to just these in my collection.

That's a good idea. I already separate TV shows/documentaries/concerts etc. from the movie blu-rays so having a section for digibooks seems like a good idea. They wouldn't look so out-of-place with their own section.

Well, I already have sections for non-standard packaging (boxsets, slipcovers etc.), so the digibooks will just get their own little space.

I just wish Warner's PQ and AQ standards were up to their packaging inventiveness. They made Blu-ray win the format war, but their efforts are still all over the place. There's about 20 Warner titles I haven't bought yet because of subpar specs.

Glad HTWWW is an utter stunner any way you look at it, though.

Fanx. I have JFK on preorder, and will definitely get Shawshank too.

Waiting to see some decent caps from Dirty Harry before I buy it. That title would be a killer double-feature with Zodiac, once Paramount gets around to releasing it...

Bonnie & Clyde is lossy, NBK and One Flew aren't my cups of tea. (At least until they show up in a BOGO, of course.)

Zodiac comes out in the UK next week:

Looks like Warner is releasing it over there (it's not a digibook, don't freak out).

Wait a minute. This is big news. If Warner is releasing The Matrix on its own (without the other two in the trilogy), I bet they'd lose a lot of sales of the Ultimate Box Edition. Everybody is crying that they can't get part 1 by itself and this could be their answer.

Yeah, but which is the lesser of the two evils? The box set with the sequels in standard packaging, or the first movie in digibook... that is if you loathe both...

That's my thoughts exactly, lol. We have to pick which one we hate less.

I love coffee book Blu's and am only interested in the first Matrix when it comes to the 3 movies. Although I want the Animatrix disc too which is only available in the Ultimate Matrix Collection.

I still love the digibooks and I'll be all over the Matrix. I think the Ultimate Box still has some draw though, because of the Animatrix. If they release that one separately as well, I'll have absolutely no desire to get the box set.

The Animatrix will be available separately in the UK, and region-free is all but assured considering we're talking about Warner.

I'll be picking up the box for sure, but at least now there are options for those who just want specific pieces.

I've also read that the Animatrix will be sold seperately in the U.S. as well.
