someone in a P.M. just corrected me, it’s actually ‘World News Tonight with David Muir’, anyhow, although not a naval base, but as an aside to pizza, the café in the background has fabulous breakfasts…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...h#post15747395

EditShare Adds Support for Dolby Vision HDR Compliance Testing

https://www.broadcastingcable.com/po...liance-testing

Quote:
With the ability to detect the presence of the Dolby ‘metafier’ command line metadata utility tool, that is part of the Dolby Vision Professional Tools, QScan makes it easy for facilities to test their Dolby Vision HDR content and view any errors.

Twine explains, “With its visually intuitive dashboard, QScan removes the complexity of multi-format file verification, ensuring that at any point during the process, an editor or colorist themselves can verify that the file they are working on is going to pass the delivery requirements with flying colors.”

Encoding.com Goes Ludicrous With Ultra-Fast Encoding Service

https://www.streamingmedia.com/Artic...ce-131008.aspx

Quote:
Encoding.com says its new encoding service is so speedy, it had to call it Ludicrous HLS. With it, content owners can process their HD and ultra-HD long-form videos in a fraction of their actual length. For example, the service took a 2-hour HD movie and created 9 output renditions packaged for HSL in 15 minutes.

Just ahead of the NAB conference, Encoding.com also announced support for Apple ProRes and Dolby Vision, and noted that Nielsen has certified the company to insert Nielsen CPVOD audio watermarks into video.

Wabo, me thinks perhaps you’ve been hanging out too much in a place like this - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post15774685
and the confusion lies with the robust ingestion of alcohol?

or, if your continued confusion is not Top Gun: Maverick related and you’ve been screaming for a budget reference screen (with no response from manufacturers up until now) capable of accurate HDR mastering not costing an arm and a leg, then this may be your ticket to bliss - https://icolorist.com/2019/03/30/a-d...-in-the-rough/

Anyway, since he took over the reins, I think Jim Gianopulos has been doing a very good job with Paramount Pictures….takes time to turn a large ship around.

I hope the folks over in the computer self-builds take a look at that HDR10 monitor for $2k. No idea what other 4K options they have, but wowza what a great looking display.

To be a a turbo jet pilot is a noble job, exhilarating and decent pay.

We all love our HRD devices and gadgets; can't live without them...can't wait to get my 5G device.

Everything that is super fast, exciting, high dynamics, wide ranges, etc., we love it.

Stanley Kubrick was a luminary, a filmmaker with a high dynamic range vision.
2001 is the perfect example. I'm looking forward to see 'Eyes Wide Shut' in HDR (Blu).
...'The Shining' and 'Full Metal Jacket'.

“To achieve one of the movie’s most iconic images, that of Alex with his eyes forced open as he’s receiving aversion therapy, Kubrick brought in a doctor to apply anesthetic to McDowell’s eye because the actor had initially refused to wear the lid-locks. The end result was one of the film’s defining images, but it was hardly fun for McDowell.
“When we shot it, the lid-locks kept sliding off my eyelids and scratching my cornea,” the actor writes. “When the anaesthetic wore off, I was in such pain I was banging my head against a wall. But Stanley was mainly concerned about when he would be able to get his next shot.”

^ that’s really kind of pathetic that they didn’t use a properly fitting eye speculum as that part of any ocular procedure is rather rudimentary - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU0TsugUJSE#t=31s and then Alex subsequently suffering from corneal abrasion(s) is inexcusable. He’s fortunate it didn’t become infected which could have led to a far more serious situation.

If you're talking about Atomos, the problem with these guys (kind of like Blackmagic Designs' video electronics) is that their gear is a bit more hype than true substance and the build quality and reliability matches their low, low prices. Their tech show booths, which I've gone to, are more glitz and glamour, which seems to gain them a lot of industry attention.

And I actually own the prior Shogun Inferno monitor/recorder for my work.
