8K is so good you need protection or risk infection

I should have the 8K JVC in time for valentines day.

me 3100 also... been told I'm 4th on the list after the shipment that goes out this week.

3100 is the one to get without doubt in my mind. And, I have to realize it's likely not my last PJ.

Ordered the 3D emitter today from BB.

I will make a video on my YouTube channel on my quick take of the projector but bluray.com is not wanting me to post link as it is considered as “self promotion”. SMH.

I'm sure it gets expensive. I've been so happy with the JVC DLA-HD950-B going on 10 years now that it's time. The problem is Sony announced the Z9K. I'll do one or the other.

Maybe you can bullet point your first impressions here when you get some time.

Yeah. I want to buy the Sony miniLED (X95) but after this projector, I will be poor for at least 2 years.

I haven't planned for every 3 years but that has been my average since 1999. I've had 10 or close to it PJs now.

At first it was very used CRT projectors that hardly lasted 3 years so that kind of established the trend.

Edit - My Pj should ship next week! Time to see what these things can do!

I've only had two projectors since 2004. I guess I've lucked out not getting into the upgrade frenzy that I used to fall into with receivers. I had a nice Yamaha 720p one before the JVC. It might be time to go the upgrade projector route but those new Sony high end TVs are really tempting. Anyone know approximately when Sony plans to release their pricing on the Z9K and the A95K?

I'm drooling over the Z9K but I'm not sure about the content that will be available. Heck, cable is just now converting to 4K. I have a crappy Vizio 4K right now that I need to upgrade since it was all that I could afford at the time. I have the A90J in my cart at Amazon (as inspiration at this point) but I would love the newest technology available. If the Z9K is like $10K I'm gonna cry and wait.

That's what I'm worried about. If the 75" Z9K can come in around $8k and the A95K around $7k there's a chance. Not holding my breathe

Maybe a month or so before release, so sometime in February/March? The A90J was released at the end of March. Although I don't think all the models will be available at the same date.

Sony has not told me the prices yet. I'll post them once they are finalized.

COMCAST HAILS SUCCESSFUL 10G DOCSIS 4.0 MODEM TEST

Quote:
More good news surfaced Thursday for those waiting for greater cable speeds and bandwidth to better facilitate 8K video streaming (among other things) and beyond.

Comcast, the cable TV and media giant, said it has successfully tested a prototype 10G modem capable of delivering multigigabit speeds to tens of millions of homes.

The tested modem used a full duplex DOCSIS 4.0 FDX system on a chip (SoC) built by Broadcom around the CableLabs protocols to produce upload and download speeds faster than 4 gigabits per second (Gbps) powered by 10G network technology, the company said.

The 10G platform is a combination of technologies being developed to produce cable speeds that are 10 times faster than today’s networks and up to 100 times faster than what many consumers experience today. The global industry initiative is aimed at keeping broadband services a step ahead of consumer demand with new technology capable of dramatically increasing upload and download capacity in coming years.

Just found the A/V processor/amplifier combo that I want when the switch to 8K comes. We all know it's coming soon, right? About $18K for the pair. Probably another $15K for the Sony Bravia Z9K TV. Gotta start saving my pennies!
