Yes, please put the torches down. No backlash against Blu-news. He's a good guy, and he understands.

As we don’t ‘own’ that information, I would first pose that question to the respective V.P. in their Marketing or Publicity Dept. and ask them.

If they have no problem with it, you need do nothing.

Penton has it right.

But let's also be honest here. Indiana Jones (already leaked in a Lucasfilm presentation, and then confirmed by the Bits), Braveheart , and Forrest Gump are the biggest titles and were already in The Rumor Mill months ago. Point is: let's not make this "scoop" out to be more than it is. It has a few extra catalog titles we didn't know about.

Ultimately, if Paramount has a problem with it, then it should be taken down. IF not, then it is what it is...a few more catalog titles we didn't know about.

No, I don't get that game.

However, I recorded Chelsea - Liverpool yesterday and watched it last evening when I got back from work. I must say it was one of the most entertaining Champions League Quarter-finals I have ever watched.

Gotta go.

That's my thinking. I fully understand comments like Van Ling's. If details about yet-to-be-produced extras are spilled, it could damage the chances of their realization. However, this post is about very elementary information ("it's coming!") regarding, for the most part, pretty major titles. If Paramount is going to cancel Braveheart because someone on the internet rumored that "Braveheart is going to be released", they're absolutely mad.

That said, I'm just spilling my half-educated, puffed-up and meaningless opinion and, at the end of the day, I defer to the experts.

What about the online chats the HTF does with studios?

When they say that a certain title isn't planned, is that a misdirection some of the time to avoid these very issues?

Whatever else you can say about Liverpool and/or Benitez, you've got to hand it to their ability to produce at least one absolute stonker per season in the Champions League!

Yeah, Esox, she's nice and all, but she talks too much and never washes her feet. Take a step back.

I've never been a "suck the toes" kind of guy, so that's alright.

That comment is pretty fun when I try to translate the analogy back into cinema.

They seemed to have dried out recently and I would love to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Goonies, which have come out in the UK, and Gremlins
Charlie just came out in Japan, they're probably holding it for the Alice in Wonderland release here. Goonies and Gremlins are coming, but may be expanded over current international editions. All the foreign discs are region free, but future US editions may be better quality

Speed Racer reissue, not any time soon

As an extreme example, look what WB did with the Matrix on HD DVD...they purposely tried to steal Disney's thunder on the Pirates of the Carribean Blu.
Not quite. That was Toshiba dropping a giant check in their laps to release it a lot earlier than they would have otherwise to counter Pirates

Sorry, Jeff. I just HAD to try and convince Bill of what he is missing
I keep telling him. I even gave him a "highlight reel" list of the episodes he could skip

Hopefully he'll give it another go at some point. If you can make it through the first 2 seasons of Voyager you can make it through anything

Misdirection is a strong word...they really have no plans other than looking at the possibility of making it happen. When they move it from the "active-looksee" to the "in the hopper", then they have plans.

I do this kind of thing a lot with putting together shows, for every show I book there's 4-5 active investigations going on or went into the production

Bill and Jeff:

I think in spite of the format war (and in spite of a historic economic downturn) Blu-Ray has really taken off well. Did you expect that it would do this well (given that there was a format war)? What kind of Market Penetration would Blu-Ray have now, do you think, if there had been no format war? You're both students of the home video formats and history so I'd be interested in your "what ifs?"

Also any idea if The Great Escape is in the works? I'd love to see a great version of that classic!

I felt those were the show's best, while the rest....not so much.
