read all of the above mentioned ones. I cant find Strange Apparitions though. Ive been told its one of the best ones.

I might be the only one, but I HATED the art style in DK Returns. It just didnt have that pretty look that Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul or HUSH had.

IS Batman R.I.P. any good?

Yeah, not a real fan of the art in that or Year One, which is also good

You know, I think the coloring was part of the problem. Kevin Eastman's words and pictures museum had a 5 page spread, the line art looked better

On 2nd thought what are some good Superman stories to read? I have read the entire Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen storyline, but Ive been told in the recent years there have been some great Superman stories.

Any recommendations?

No. I found it, like a lot of Grant Morrison stories, good in idea but poor in execution.

Try "Dark Detective", its not as good as "Strange Apparitions" but it is the "sequel" to it. Any Batman collections written by Paul Dini will have good stories. If you are willing to drop the change Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams is worth EVERY penny.

Try this: Superman/Braniac -- The next Superman movie should be this good!

Did you ever read John Byrne's run on Superman, Jeff? Recently, Geoff Johns run was great!

Jeff,

Any chance Universal puts out a release of Red Dragon by year's end? It seems strange Australia and the UK got one but the US didn't, especially considering it would be a perfect Halloween release. Did it not sell well on HD DVD?

Different distributors overseas I believe

BTW, Since I know it's a popular topic, do not use Generations as a benchmark for how TNG might look on Blu-ray. The sets and the models all got an extra detail makeover for the movie, and the bridge lighting was made far more dynamic than the flat lighting that was used in the series.

I'm pretty sure at least the UK release is through Universal. It has their 'The Perfect High Definition Experience' banner underneath.

Yes, there were articles about this at the time of the Generations. They revamped (refreshed?) the TV set for the movie, using darker tones that you can't get away with on (SD) TV.

Both Escape from New York and LA (and the new dvd of Dark Star) were going to come out this year, now it look like they probably won't. Are they possibly being withheld for Carpenter's new movie or are they just low priority?

There is an Escape remake in the pipeline, I couldn't say about Dark Star though

Are WB's digibooks going to be a limited time thing? I wasn't sure if they were going to press a certain amount for each title before switching to a standard case as they did with Amadeus. I like them alot and was just wondering if they were going to only be available for a specific period. There's a few more I don't own yet.

It would be reasonable to assume that it's not something they will keep up forever. I would not be suprised at all if they limit them to the first pressing

I surmise Amadeus is likely a special case due to the bonus CD. WHV likely licensed the music from Saul Zaentz for use on that CD for a limited time that has now expired, thus the re-release sans CD. There are of course other Digis released earlier than Amadeus that are still available.

On another Digibook-related note: I them a lot, too, but am wondering Jeff if you've heard any WHV execs comment on why they produce them with that separate sheet lightly glued to the back containing the tech specs? Is it cost-prohibitive/does it push the limits of legibility to make the images and text of that separate page the actual back cover?

I would understand the argument that it would make for a less aesthetically-pleasing image than what WHV has generally put on the back (Shawshank is a particularly pleasing choice), but in that case why not make that page part of the bound book? Or, at the very least, make the loose page the same size as the other pages such that it can be tucked into the book and not stick out the edges.

It reminds me of the paper wraparounds Paramount did/does on many of their DVD boxes (the original Indiana Jones trilogy box, the separate Beavis and Butt-head volumes). It adds an element of cheapness to an otherwise collector-worthy, classy affair.

Just wondering if you'd ever heard the rationale on why they do this this way.

Also on another note: WTF is going on with a Bad Boys II BD? It's like the Shawshank of SPHE--teased in inserts/trailers many, many months ago and then delaaaayed. A Bayhem tie-in, releasing a two-fer of both films at or about the same time as Revenge Of the Fallen, would be delicious.

What's up Jeff now someone on another thread got an E-mail from WB saying Lord of The Rings is still coming out on Nov 3. Does that mean the Delay is false?

I don't think it's because of the CD. WB also includes the digital copy on first run pressings now. The Matrix digibook originally included the DC. I've seen it restocked in a digibook sans DC. I just think they made a small number for Amadeus.
