Can't say on GWTW. I'd wait for the Black Friday sale if you just want to upgrade the movie, and I'd order the UK version with the nice cover and 2-discs if you don't already have the 4-disc DVD

If rumors are to be believed, and I do believe them, Ubisoft refused to let anyone post early who didn't agree to give the game a 9+ and an overall good review. The game certainly seems good enough to me that they didn't need to worry. Let's not forget that Jeff Gerstmann got axed over this (among other things, he's certainly not completely innocent in the matter)

Jeff,
Another non-BD question since I don't think we'll see any WB animation outside of the classics any time soon.

Have the releases of Tiny Toons, Freakazoid and similar titles done well enough that we might have a chance of seeing Taz-mania on DVD? Outside of Freakazoid it is my most wanted series from that period. I know they weren't happy about the numbers on Animaniacs, but I was hoping some of the other series were doing well enough that they might try another series.

Alas, I won't be able to make it to Target on Black Friday, nor do I know anyone who is going, to my knowledge.... which is a shame as I'd be tempted to buy Oz for $12.99 just to see it once (even though I don't care for it).

I don't have the 4-disc DVD, and I do prefer the UK cover art (ugly rating notices aside), but the current price of $25 when all I'd gain are a bunch of SD extras and better cover art (marred by those stupid logos) is extremely annoying considering someplace will have a barebones edition for $12.99.

Very annoying...

Uncharted 2 was reviewed weeks in advance though. I would like to see publishers have more confidence in their games.

PS3 exclusive games seem to get reviews in advance of release date by quite a bit.

I've heard that he ticked off people at some game companies by being what they felt was overly cruel. That sort of thing would blow back to his CNET overlords That's all hearsay however.

Jeff,

What was with Bright Star being announced today, and then a couple hours later being canceled? I got really stoked only to have all my excitement take a swift kick to the nuts. Please tell me it will be put back on the schedule my friend, or at least get a Region B release so I can import it.

Jeff, while I'm sure it was not intentional, the following posting on The Digital Bits is potentially misleading:

Quote:
Speaking of exclusives, Target today has a "discs-only" version of Gone with the Wind on Blu-ray, sans the box and all the other swag therein (SRP $34.99). This is similar to what they recently did with Wizard of Oz, so if you want just the discs, there you go.
As mentioned above, Target's exclusive is only the first disc.

Jeff are there any plans by WB to release similar UCE of GWTW etc in Europe?

UCEs are exclusive to the states for the moment. Next year's batch may come out both places

Correction - there are already UCEs of Wizard of Oz in France and Germany.

I have the German one and it's pretty cool. It even has stuff from the SE DVD that didn't make it to the US UCE:

No, I don't have access to the UK databases, it's BBC there right?

It's almost certainly the same disc recycled, but I couldn't say definitively

2 quick questions:

Is it confirmed that the A&E release of "The Prisoner" is identical in content to the UK version?
(same encode; same features)

and

Any reason why Fox isn't releasing "Tora, Tora, Tora" on bd right now in NA as they are in some other countries?

I'm sure it will come to the US eventually, but I was kind of surprised that the US doesn't also get this title in time for the December anniversary date.
thanks.

.
