Do you think this will make it out to Blu-Ray before the end of the year, or is it more of an early '08 title? It doesn't seem like it would be a great looking in terms of picture quality, but it would definitely be a hot title to have on Blu-Ray.
It's supposed to be out by the end of the year.

Also do you know if they are going to put the full season of The Legend Of Jazz on Blu. I know that there is the best of seaon one on Blu, but I see them advertising the box set for the full season on DVD.

Thanks.
We don't release the Sony Music product, but when I talk with them again, I will pass along the request. They are doing some good work with BD.

It appears your previous post was not enough and has only fueled even more controversy.

I'll see what DADC has officially approved for public consumption. It's interesting how there is such a fixation on this. I know for a fact that BD50 replication is going well, orders are getting filled promptly, and very large runs have been completed in just a week or so. Frankly I'm a little embarrassed to approach our replicators about this question, because at this point in time, it's just not relevant anymore.

Should they be released simultaneously or at least in a closer timeline and only mirror the DVD extras (there are lots of it already) I don't see why anyone would go with the DVD.

You have seen the HD masters, do you think that the VQ difference is big enough to make Seinfeld fans sell their DVD collections or do you feel that you need to ad extra value features to make them do so?

Cheap BD players in December and The Complete Seinfeld Blu-ray Collection would make lot of people smile during the holidays...I know I would!
The picture quality it good, it is not remarkable, and it will vary from show to show.

I have a very specific use-case in mind: When the Innocence DVD was first released it contained SDH subtitles, but no proper translation for the original audio track. Dreamworks started up an exchange program as a result, and while the new discs had proper subtitles, the SDH track was gone. The ability for the user to download and update the subtitles themselves would not only reduce the need for exchange programs like that, but also presumably allow more choice. You also wouldn't need to buy another disc which may or may not have the network connectivity you need to get the update in question.

This is an interesting idea. I don't think it will work though without specific support from the player company. Maybe by using a BD-9 we could do something, but I don't think you will be able to burn that with all the required security for this purpose.

Also Thanks for the remaster of The Fifth Element (one my favs)!!!! Do you have a rough idea of when Léon (A.K.A. The Professional) (just did a search "not on the schedule") might be released? So here's another vote to get Léon released on BD.

Also Thanks for all you've done/do at AVS.
Sorry, but I can't really help with Miramax. Never underestimate the power of the U.S. mail though. Address it to the Home Video Marketing department.

I still don't see "The Professional" on the schedule. I like that title too.

I've given my opinion as to why BD insiders should leave AVS:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...539#post193539

FYI to paidgeek, Amir is now claiming that if BD-50s were priced "properly", they would cost $100, $200, "or even higher". So you can ask the DADC if that is accurate.

Paidgeek, how about The Professionals with Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin? Is that on the release schedule since I believe it was anounced a while back.

Oh, you mean more than the like 24 hours that Amir managed to storm off for?

Hehehe.

I wouldn't go back there unless there is an insider thread for BD questions only - no Amir allowed.

Only the companies who release players can definitively answer this question, but I'm very confident there will be multiple players on the market this year which support 1.1.

There is a requirement that any update to a given title be signed by the same key as the initial release. That is, only Disney can update a Disney title. The question is whether signed content can be delivered as an external download. If so, you could possibly even download straight to flash memory (i.e. a USB stick or supported memory card, depending on what the player supports) in addition to burning media.

So I think it's possible your scenario would work, but I can't say confidently. Worst case the studio would have to include the update on another release or a separate disc (as paid mentions BD-9 would work well for this).

Paidgeek:

First of all thank you for providing the info last time on Run Lola Run and Das Boot.

I would like to ask what are the chances of seeing the existing Almodovar set SONY released to celebrate the director on Blu? A possible BR-Almodovar set will simply make an enormous ripple effect around the country (and overseas).

Any additional info on other upcoming foreign-language productions will also be highly appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

Dr.A

Yes those should be moveable and of a smaller font (similar to their size on film) so they don't overpower the image on the larger Scope CH projection screens. And diffuse white. (not 100% white) (Or yellow!)

Talk - what is your take on the Daewoo 2.0 player and what, if any, implications are there for sales of 1.1 (and 1.0!) players?

TIA!

Would one of you care to set the record straight on this asinine and obviously false statement?

When is Sony and/or the BDA going to start taking serious legal actions against the parties responsible for spreading these sorts of purposeful lies and misinformation?
The claim is beyond ridiculous.
