It's the crushed blacks and softness that are the major problems. Coppolla and Zoetrope can play with the palate to their heart's content.
But now there is detail that is just gone. If the transfer just looked dim, washed out because of the film elements, fine. But seeing the EXACT same shots in HD in the new documentaries looking MUCH better makes you realize that someone screwed the pooch. Take this for example, in the SB dvd, it is CLEAR that the words from Harker's journal are superimposed over the shot of him at the door in the castle. in the BD, because it's SO much darker, flatter and crushed, you can barely see them at all and would NEVER register that these are "words: that have been superimposed. dvd ![]() and the Blu ray ![]() This isn't just bad photography on my part, this is how it looks. |

You mention crushed blacks, have you calibrated your display properly for hi-def input?

Your query is kind of vague. Can you be more specific as to what you’re referring to or perhaps post the link so that I know what’s on your mind, specifically? I mentioned about 2 weeks ago? that alot is going on behind the scenes that I am not at liberty to disclose at this time………plus, it is not uncommon for announcements to not reach the mainstream media exactly on the day intended due to a plethora of reasons. |

My Gawd, people like rdjam, plazman, and poor Amir must have had a stroke by now. ![]() Is the date of the original post actually correct ? That thread has grown that large in so short a time? This isn’t some trick that you guys are playing on ole Penton to take his mind off his recent knee surgery and physical therapy…..is it ? I have to ask these questions before I can give you an honest and as forthcoming response as I can. Well ? B.T.W. My sis lives in Potomac Falls. ![]() I received one of my doctorates from Georgetown. ![]() ![]() |

rdjam is not believing it but has said he'll take action if it's true. Amir is quiet so the stroke is a definite possibility. Plazman...I dunno. Never got interesting enough for me to take note of his posts.

Well do you want me to allow the fun to continue until tomorrow morning or should I quell it, one way or another right now ?

At least this is fun! I am retired, but I worked for the IRS in DC as an Artificial Intelligence Specialist and yes their is some real intelligence in the IRS. Many year ago I worked in Manhattan as a Broadcast Engineer for NBC. I hope you get well quickly!

Restaurateur Warner LeRoy, whose Hollywood roots and business savvy, brought glamour and pizazz to world reknowned eateries like Tavern on the Green and The Russian Tea Room, has died at a Manhattan hospital. He was 65. LeRoy, the son of "The Wizard of Oz" director Mervyn LeRoy and Doris Warner, the daughter of Warner Brothers Studios executive Harry Warner, grew up around movie stars and movie sets, which helped form his personal credo on what a restaurant should be. hmm..... |

Give me a moment to think how I can carefully word this as to not offend any parties involved and still provide some fruitful info....... Meanwhile I have to respond to Dave Mack for some comic relief. I'm getting a headache. |
