I agree. The trailer looks inticing. I think that Marvel is doing a great job overall bringing thier properties to the big screen. I really think that the new Hulk will be made for HD. Hulk vs The Abomination in New York?!? It's gonna be something!

Meh, I'm more interested in seeing The Dark Knight and Wolverine in HD myself. Any Insiders have info on FOX releasing X1 and X2 on Blu-ray to coincide with the movie?

Thanks for responding to my question without without being rude about the fact that you had already talked about deep colour earlier. I know on other boards people love to be demeaning, rude, and unwelcoming to people who are just trying to expand their grasp and understanding of new techonology. I do not get that feeling here and i really appreciate it. I just watched the bd of lives of others and i just want to say kudos to whoever was involved in the transfer. The contrast and black levels in the scenes where wieler is evesdropping in the attic are amazing. It seems to me that sony,bv, and disney make the best blu-ray discs

A fellow member asked me a few pages back about the restoration of old films (one of which he especially liked) and I can’t recall with certainty but I think he was from New York ?
Anyway, here’s a heads-up to that old movie fan and anyone else out there in Blu-ray land that lives in N.Y. and would like to see theatrical presentations of some recently restored oldies but goodies and are too impatient to wait for their debut on Blu-ray. At 45th New York Film Festival on October 12 (?-check to confirm the date) the new restorations of Drums Along The Mohawk (1939) and Leave Her To Heaven (1945) will premiere. ![]() Marty Scorsese will introduce the films and discuss the importance of preservation prior to the screenings. If you missed my recent previous post on film preservation/restoration search this thread for... THE FILM FOUDATION ![]() Anyway, the restoration and preservation of these films was a collaborative effort by Fox, the Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation. DTS Digital Images (Lowry) did the restoration job. Both motion pictures were produced in three-strip Technicolor format. ![]() “Drums” by the way was directed by John Ford and the Lenser for Leave Her To Heaven won an Oscar back in the day for for Best Color Cinematography. Check em out if you’ve got the opportunity. ![]() |

![]() One of the strengths of this forum is that people aren’t so much into argumentative one-upmanship (that poses as earnest “debate” ![]() We are also more laid back than places like AVM$ because people here have already chosen their format of choice (after careful consideration) and just want to enjoy it in peace…………rather than making some argumentative point to an audience of only 5 or 10 people who are amenable to altering their mindset anyway. I think that unless there has been a wayward troll or trolls trying to disrupt a thread on our forum, you will rarely see any threads becoming locked, disappeared or constant *rule changes* to ensure that the inmates don’t kill each other online. It is rather disappointing I think, when someone like Richard Casey who has pushed the envelope in the pursuit of video and audio excellence with his Blu-ray and HD DVD versions of Nature’s Journey has to contend with the abuse and repeated disruptions (i.e. thread “pauses” or thread locks) on other forums like AVM$............................. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=117 https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=122 Last edited by Penton-Man; 10-01-2007 at 03:37 PM. |

If I was them, I would pack my bags, leave that mud pit, and come here ![]() We are much more appreciable of a producer coming here and telling us how they produced their movie on both a techincal and artistic way. Ungrateful slugs I believe me grammy would have called them over there. |

This has been driving me crazy for a long time now....
Everytime I see a commercial for anything that is being released by an HD DVD only studio, the commercials make sure to point out that it is coming out not only on DVD, but also HD DVD. Now, when ever I see a commercial for Blu-ray studios (mainly Fox), they are only advertising the DVD version of the film. Wouldn't it make more sense if the ads mentioned that there was also a Blu-ray disc version coming out? All the ads I have seen today for F4: ROTSS have NEVER mentioned that a Blu-ray version is coming. In fact, the ony time I ever see a commercial for Blu-ray is when watching HD Theater (formerly Discovery HD Theatre). Can anyone tell me why the BDA or the supporting studios are not advertising their format more often than they do? |

hi Penton,
Since we're talking about film restauration, I'm really curious if we're getting any closer to using digital media to replace film stock as a "permanent" storage and preservation system. What I mean by this, isn't a DI, but a digital copy that matches *exactly* the amount of information contained in 35 mm (or 65) film stock, and that would permanently "lock" the picture against the essence of time. I know that George Lucas has toyed with the idea over time -- and I don't need to tell you how many old movies are lost forever every year... Has this project become any closer -- or is it still a film geek's fantasy? And if this idea is still toyed with, what kind of video and audio formats could be used, with the assurance that they will still be around in 20, 30 or 50 years? If you think about it, how do we know that the computer of our grand-granddaughter will be able to read our current Word and JPG files? |

I recongnized this to. Today there was a commercial for Surf's Up, and it showed the Blu-Ray version sticking out behind the DVD version at the end for 2 seconds. At the end it said coming to DVD and PSP. Why not say it is coming out on Blu-Ray, especially since this was a movie from a Sony Studio. |
