Since you have an eagle eye when it comes to PQ and transfers, if they ever released Who Framed Roger Rabbit on blu, how would the transfer codec look? If I remember correctly, the re-release on DVD used a restored transfer? I'd like to get your thoughts on this.

Don't want to fill the thread with idle chatter but I have to mention that I went to Fry's today and bought Chronos just to show my support for him and his principles. (I already have a copy I made off cable a few years back and burned to DVD-R.) It's commendable that his small company (no insult intended) is willing to stand up to the big bullies (M$) both on and off the boards.

What a great guy, and a true enthusiast.

You are not alone. I watched POTC 1 and many of the game controller DVD controls are disabled. I put Surf's Up in afterward and still disabled. Annoying because the POTC discs are incredibly well packaged.

I figure I wouldn't complain about it till I see what 2.0 firmware does.

@BD-J PS3 controller differences questions:

I believe it has to do with the fact that while PS3 is doing its BD-J thing it counts the directional pad and X button as just that (4 directions and a select button)... When using BD-J, the movie can require/acquire input from those (whereas if they were still fastforward/rewind and play/stop they wouldn't be usable).

It isn't something that's going to change with a 2.0 firmware or "fixed", as it's not broken... it's just the way it is when BD-J is used. It may be inconsistent, but BD-J requires some extra buttons for possible usage in games or whatnot, as far as I know.

I think an insider can confirm this...

American Gangster is the next one - which would be Universal as well.

(Deja Vu is the last one - which is a Disney flick).

I think we are possibly stretching on this one though.

Another great post from R&B Films....

Also for those that can please post support for Richard at AVS because I think he will get a lot of negative replies from HD-DVD supporters and probably Amir.

Personally, I feel the Hurricane is a stretch. As always, time will tell.

Unless Penton decides to give another hint ;-)

It’s nice to see an independent producer like Richard take on the *retired internet bully* and his army of minions to set the record straight regarding the misinformation cast about his work, motivations and beliefs.

If you really want to support him, put in a good word for moral support and follow-up by purchasing his products.

There is a rumor that Weinstein is going BD exclusive on December 11th, some retailers are listing Rob Zombies 'Halloween' only on DVD and BD on that day.

Does any insider feel like shedding some light on this subject?

Isn't Weinstein tied to Warner the same way New Line is?

Weinstein is their own entity that distributes through Genius Products.

You're thinking of Miramax, that the Weinsteins used to run attached to Disney

All my information is showing Weinstein not going HD or Bluray, at least for this year. Of all their Nov/Dec titles none are coming out on Bluray.

Weinstein has a great relationship with MGM (which supports Bluray only) however it this hasn't translated into Bluray support. Weinstein at the beginning of the year was actually exclusive with HD on a couple of their titles. Whether it was really poor sales or something else, they stopped releasing their titles on HD.

either way they should have released some of their titles on one of the highdef formats seeing as how they have "ok" titles for the next 3 months.: Sicko, Who's Your Caddy, Nanny Diaries, Halloween, and that Exalibur type movie)

It was really, really poor sales. IIRC, There's a report out there somewhere that shows that they had averaged something like 800 discs per title.

Trying to bring it back on track:

Paidgeek, I think you are most qualified to answer this for me...

Something I would very much like to see with future releases is a PSP capable version included on the disc (I guess we would just move it to the PSP via a USB plug on the player? Or, BD drive in the PC... Obviously, PS3 transfer to PSP would be perfect). Is this even a remote possibility?

Frankly, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to feel this way, I'm pretty pissed off that I own so many movies on DVD/BD and I'm expected to 're-buy' them for my PSP only to have cumbersome UMD discs to have to deal with when I can easily fit a movie file on my Memory Stick and, as far as I'm concerned, I already own the rights to privately view the movie. It feels dirty to me and I feel like I'm getting robbed, to be honest.

Just something I would REALLY like to see happen in the near future and I know you hinted at it awhile back in this thread. Would just like some clarification and if/how it's moving along. I think this would be a great up-sell for BD to this niche market as well.

Thank you.
Your idea is interesting and it is one that we have given quite a bit of thought to. The biggest issue is how many portable device types to support with their associated security system.

You can expect to see this feature tested by SPE in the near future.
