I know I pretty much said this elsewhere, but to paidgeek and Penton-Man, whoever orchestrated that BOGO last week which looks like it was effective at leading to Blu-ray taking the week by Nielsen count, needs to be congratulated on a great job. And Disney should be thanked for their part last week. Looks like it was close and the BDA needs to continue to stay alert and on their toes in this battle, but great job on that one.

Sorry, but that is an poor reason to buy a Dud player and prolong this format nonsense.

HUGE congrats to sony, disney and of course, our fellow blu ray people. I bought 17 titles in ONE week, because i want blu ray to succeed and i guess so did everyone else who went out to buy titles! Congrats to us all for really stomping toshibas efforts into the ground and really showing that movie lovers DO have the power to change the numbers. I love it.

Not likely to see the audio remixed, sorry. You know years ago I actually saw a box that was used for nothing except this purpose? Basically a library of laughs in a box that could be brought in to the mix room and plugged in...
Paid, you might want to check with Sony International. I know that people asked for that on MASH, and they were shown in the UK with no laugh track so they were able to include it.

Perhaps if they'd chosen to glo Blu-exclusive rather than HD DVD-exclusive, they'd be seeing better numbers. They picked the wrong side, but it's nice to hear that Sony will help them make amends. :-)

I too would like to congratulate the people behind the BOGO sale to counter "Transformers", but above all, I'd like to THANK them!

7 Sony titles from Fry's, 3 Blu-ray's from Circuit City (I did a bad thing and got Transformers), 4 from Amazon which haven't shipped yet... not to mention several other titles I purchased elsewhere that didn't have anything to do with the BOGO sale.

Hi Paidgeek, I got the copy of the Company for a week now and I agree with you that the PQ quality is excellent..... Especially it is in 1.78 : 1 format which is more rewarding to watch..... Bravo Bravo...

I think Warner will be making some sort of move in this war first. I'm suspicious about recent delays and lack of announcements. All of which is taking place surrounding their BDA contract expiry/renewal date. I know that Paidgeek told me otherwise (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=4723) but he specifically said "IS STILL VERY MUCH". This didn't clarify that their contract was renewed. Of course they STILL ARE a member of the BDA, but what will they be the day after their current contract expires?

Please forgive my persistence... I'm not trying to advocate chaos, I'm just seeking something more concrete to alleviate this bubbling fear within the pit of my stomach. It's a very rare occasion that I find myself in such a state of anxiety without having eaten Mexican food or McDonalds within the last 12 hours.

My question is to Paidgeek,

Is the Spiderman 3 Blu-ray pack-in with the upcoming PS3 40GB going to differ in anyway from the standalone release, will it be the same 2 disc set?

I'm doubting any insider can comment on the specs for the upcoming Panasonic DMP-BD30 player, but if they can, I know a lot of people are wondering whether or not the press materials are correct in stating that it's a Final Standard Profile player.

If no one can comment on that player specifically, can anyone speak to whether or not we will be seeing any non-combo (BD/HD DVD combo) players coming out before Christmas that will be Final Standard Profile compliant? (And I mean standalones... not the PS3. That's kind of a given.)

Thanks to you all... and GREAT job beating HD DVD in Transformers week. That's pretty incredible.

paidgeek,

Close Encounters is announced for Germany at www.areadvd.de with English sound only in Dolby Digital, NOT lossless. Is this correct? If yes, what is the reason? I thought those times were over.

I understand where you are coming from whatever side they choose will have a definate effect on the war, it'll devastate the side they choose to stop releasing on, BD could survive it but would upset us, and it'd prolong the war and that does no one any favors, HD-DVD would be crippled, oh sure they too could exist, but alot of the power they now hold would drop faster, as consumers wanting more movies then HD-DVD can offer move more and more to BD.

so Warner adds alot of weight to this war, I only hope they choose to back BD and give up on the idea of TotalHD or being neutral... but that's just my opinion.

Well according to an ACCC ruling region coding may actually be illegal under the trade practices act and as well not been unforceable under Australias copyright laws.

But I've imported some BDs' from the US (they are cheaper) and they as well as many other movies are region free, so it's not that bad.

Paidgeek, I have read that the spanish edition of CEOT3K has 2 truehd tracks (english and spanish) AND a DTS HD MA track. Is that info accurate? If so, I think itīs a first, and an amazing demonstration of the power of blu-ray, doing something the competition can only dream of...
