I can not really say how much it disturbs me that people honestly believe that Pirates AWE would be 1080i..

On 1080i material a blu player will still output @ 1080p, correct?
BTW, my copy of Pirates 3 looks great so I really don't care if its 1080p or not.

No, I think it is currently rare (or maybe even nonexistent) for Blu-ray players to internally deinterlace 1080i to 1080p. The PS3 doesn't, for example. It outputs 1080i as 1080i.

Another reason why I enjoy this forum is that it is special in the sense that we are one Big Blu Family and exhibit a camaraderie seldom expressed on other forums centered around audio/video topics where they generally spend much more time fighting each other than they do helping each other.
