Now if memory serves, one sentence (actually one word) that Sir Howard uttered from that past interview (sponsored by BusinessWeek) was diced, sliced and dissected for its meaning ad nauseau on the AVS forum.

Question (for those who still venture in red ant territory )……Is this BusinessWeek coverage of Michael Burns’ comments being picked up at all on AVS or just being ignored……..or worse ?
Seems like it is supressed all together.

I wonder why, if the red ants are fans of HDM, the concept of a stalemate and death of both formats is so appealing to them. It seems like their loss of a few hundred dollars for the greater good (success of HDM) would be a cause for celebration.

They now have a 3 page thread that has'nt been deleted (yet) but it's now locked

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=951615

I wonder if AVSforum will lock the entire HDM forum once Blu-Ray wins? Maybe they will declare the site an HDM free zone

UPDATE: THEY NOW KILLED THE THREAD ALLTOGETHER!

A response by a Paden-Blu to Mod action has been swiftly removed. It had something to do with AVS effectively equating the words of the Vice-Chairman of LGF to that of a two-bit chump or some such.

Worse.

Deletions. Bans. Censorship outright.

You can look around in the Rant thread and the corresponding Warner rumor thread to see several people who have been directly affected complaining.

Sickening, but not surprising.

It appears that you have to PM Mark Rubin so he can confirm that it is 'truly' a rumor.

There is also a Rumor tracking thread for discussion of 'approved' rumors.

(Sorry for cluttering the insiders thread!)

I do think the Blu-ray format is better than HD-DVD in key areas and especially for Europe, so you can expect me to be pro BD in my comments. That said, I don't do spin well and if there is a weakness or mistake to be owned up to, I'll do so.

is there any reason to suspect that a 1.1 disc won't play in a 1.0 player or a 2,0 disc for that matter, as I understand it (please correct me if I'm wrong) a 1.1 and 2.0 disc will work just fine in a 1.0 player it'll just lack those extra functions, so if you are into the movie your safe, and at some point in the future, you could upgrade the player and add new life to those discs...

If an ATSC broadcaster suddenly starting transmitting two programs instead of one on their signal, your TV would still work just fine. And this has happened more than you think. Same concept. That's the beauty of building on top of the ATSC/DVB architecture.

Oh, I understand now.
So they only allow FACTS by their A#1 insiders to remain on their website (as if true) like for instance……………….

1. BD50 is science fiction
2. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a 48 hr. encode rule for time to do the work.
3. Phase Hydra is an anonymous viral marketing machine.
4. Etc., etc.

Or, I’m told, the continued prognostications of “retired” insiders concerning the hows/whys and wherefores of the high-def optical disc format war and where we are headed according to their speculation(s).

Tell me, is Dave Vaughn still promoting the *doomsday scenario* in regards to BD50 replication yields…..i.e. – if this happens, then this could happen, and then finally this may happen and …………………..doomsday cometh ?

Yes,
Mr. Vaughn is still on the replication crusade.
Except for now he has some insider information that BD discs are not recyclable???
And this some how relates to yields and costs.??

Don't ask me to explain it, I just read it from him

Unfortunately with all this paranoid behavior by AVS they have lost their relevancy. I guess the Michaels don't make thier "A" list (Amir).

Also I could be reading more into this that I should but Talks absence from AVS recently adds a bit to the Warner going Blu theory. Just as Amir was quiet before the Paramount announcement.

This is my first post in the Insider's thread here. I've been a member of AVS since 2002 and I haven't seen such censorship nonsense in my entire life. They spot ban anyone who talks about the latest rumor, etc, to keep it off the boards.

Couple that with the fact I am seeing a ton of viral BS marketers over @ Hidefdigest trying to downplay it with claiming a BD exclusive studio is about to go neutral, etc. If they are here reading my post, I know who you are, and I know your game.

I hope that WB gets off the pot and ends this thing and ends it soon. It would be better for the industry as a whole if they would just go BD and end the confusion. Furthermore, I appreciate the BD insiders as I have seen nothing but factual information from them which is a lot more than I can say for insiders from the other camp.

I appreciate the information you give us on these matters.

So is AVS's over reaction an indication this 'rumour' has real substance?

If a direct quote from the LGF guy is not good enough, AVS's damage control certainly up's the ante.

Since he's going on about this, I'm assuming that DVDs and HD DVDs are?
