2. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a 48 hr. encode rule for time to do the work.
3. Phase Hydra is an anonymous viral marketing machine.
4. Etc., etc.
In all fairness to AVS (who just locked a thread I started, so I'm no apologist) they have, in theory, stopped allowing those types of posts from either side since the lock down.

What bothers me is how the new rules are already being used to silence pro BD material and run off pro BD members, while continuing to allow pro HD DVD FUD to get through (also notice how many stalemate articles get through still...talk about the ultimate source of consumer Fear and Doubt!) while censoring and intimidating (via bans, etc) those with contrary opinions.

Once upon a time the mods at AVS bragged about how "fair" they were because both sides complained equally...I bet they weren't taking the 3:1 HD DVD member bias into account!

Thanks so much to Penton, Paid, and all the other insiders for their hard work here.

Good find. I can personally speak to Microsoft's business practices. In the IT industry they followed the same pattern they have used in other industries.

1) Make partners with companies high up
2) Gain market share through inferior & cheaper products
3) Cannibalize your partners to secure the market and gain more market share
4) You've won Monopoly

paidgeek, since The Bridge Of The River Kwai is coming out next year (which quarter though?), maybe one of the special features you can include is a brand spanking new documentary on the actual railroad project shot in HD. Even a comparison between the movie and the actual facts would be a great thing to include.

I know that Discovery and National Geographic Channels have docos on this topic before but I don't know how much you'd have to pay them to include them in the set.

Is there a "man vs myth" type of doco in Lawrence of Arabia? That would be an interesting thing to watch.

Penton-Man

Please tell me it isn't true...

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford releasing on Feb 5 on SD DVD only?!?!

No Blu-ray? This is a travesty!

Can you have another Bar-B-Que with your Warner friends and convince them this title was made for HD?

Thanks!

I concur. There are some good ones coming out in the first 10 or so weeks of '08, but nothing mind blowing that is going to sell to multiple demographics. Bear in mind, however, DuD really has nothing special but Zodiac for the same time period.

Hopefully Warner will be exclusive by then and it won't matter anyway

Let's not forget that we've barely scratched the surface of new title announcements for 2008. Let's stay on target and enjoy them as they come in.

And the Insiders cannot comment on the unannounced titles, so it's really pointless to make "sucking ass" comments. Titles mentioned at the recent HD 2.0 conference are already a great boon to Blu-ray -- with many more to come.

BTW, I'm also hoping for Jesse James on Blu. Warner really seems to be short-shrifting this title at the moment, but possible major award nominations could change that.

Add me to the list of those desperate for Jesse James on Blu. Such a great, underrated film that would be a demo disc for sure.

Default A Samsung Blu-ray player below 300$

hi Insiders,

Amazon currently lists the Samsung BD-P1400 at 299$. Is this a one shot only, or can we expect other stores to follow?

Is this the first stone cast by the BDA to satisfy Warner's desire to have Blu-ray players at more affordable prices?

Best Buy has them for that also.

Well thats cool. I was under the impression that the ones posted were it. If more are going to be anounced, then I'll bite my tounge and hold off on the sucking ass comments.

Thanks for the encouraging news.

I saw in a Fox promotion that Fight Club is coming soon.

How Soon?
What supplements are they planning?

The box office gross is hardly an indicator of the film's quality. It's a brilliant movie with gorgeous cinematography. This is a natural choice for some seriously high-bitrate Blu-ray goodness.

Default Rumors, Rumors, Rumors....

Penton-man and Insiders.

Are there any rumors in Hollywood on when WB plans to announce any change on going exclusive? We've all read the rumor thread but are there any rumors on timing?

:-)

Thanks!

You wont get an answer for this, unfortunately.
The best answer Penton can give is this:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6663

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6667

These should be satisfactory for the time being.

the hidden message in the 2nd post is what knocked my socks off...

even if it is a rumor...it's still a rumor of big proportions...

not to mention that this rumor actually has legs...

I wasn't one of the ones to get all worked up over the other rumors...but I must admit, I'm finally getting....somewhat excited ahaha
