If it makes you feel better, even he agrees he's not really an insider. AVS just gave him that title.

Wrong place for this but I am essentially indifferent to Vaughn - not a terribly interesting writer.

I've got my fingers seriously crossed that you are right. I think the BDA's lack of BOGO is going to hurt them this week. Going against strong HD DVD Planet Earth sales (all of a sudden again?!), Bourne, BOGO, and Potter could be extremely close. I know I'm doing my part though!

Its likely to be close. Bourne is selling very well according to early buzz

I not only have found myself truly despising this individual, I find it absolutely unprofessional and perhaps even unethical that his publication continues to, even tacitly, support this behavior while claiming to hold a neutral stance. If there is one thing I can't stand, it is bald face lying. I am a Blu supporter. I am slanted towards BD. I hold nothing against others for making the other choice. Lots of folks I like and respect online are HD DVD fans. What I cannot abide and just think is beyond pathetic and craven is fake "I am neutral" crap followed by backhanded, hypocritical acts and statements.

This individual has absolutely no credibility, and his publication demeans itself by going along with this self aggrandizing foolishness. I am actually glad he is not on our side because I would be ashamed to have BD associated with his ilk.

Chris

PS - Apologies if this rant seems overboard to anyone. I am just so tired of this rubbish behavior from a supposed professional and just keep hoping he will make that move that goes too far leading to at least his part in this ending.

All I can say after reading your post, this guy sounds like any other liberal reporter. They don't tell the truth, they spin the truth to keep those opressed in disillusion, just like the HD DVD fanboys are about blu-ray being the superior and the final HD product...

Mods, can the Vaughn discussion please be moved... Talk about cluttering up the thread.

Just a thought-- and this may be a stupid idea and/or a non viable one; but given the amount of "clutter" and somewhat off-topic chit chat that occurs in this thread (like this post for instance! ), would an "insiders forum" help to focus some of these discussions a bit better? It might help to keep specific topics encapsulated into one thread, with questions to insiders submitted directly to them as a new thread. I (and I'm sure many others) find myself having to weed my way through the thread to keep my train of thought in order; and I have skipped relevant posts to what I was reading in my zeal to skip the chit-chat, only to have to go back and find that relevant post again when someone quotes or comments on it.

A negative might be that a question/thread gets lost in an avalanche of submissions, but that might happen to some extent now with the length of this thread.

I don't know how the mods or insiders would feel about this, and their preference should be the bottom line.

Anyways, any thoughts about this idea?

To any Sony insiders, this is more of a request then a question, but can you please ask the division that takes care of the PS3 to "standardize" on he power off in the different menus?

I was just thinking of this the other day while watching Weeds.
On BD would it be possible to set on the player a cookie to remember the last episode you saw and add on the disk menu a "resume". So that I don't need to keep track where I reached in the season the last time I watched and it resumes with the next episode?

Doesn't Weeds Season 2 do exactly that?

I apologize for this leading to such clutter. I put it in the insiders thread as a serious imploring to insiders to complain if it would do any good to stop the leaking. I don't really care who the numbers favor. I think it is highly unprofessional to jump the gun on information like this that is set to be put out by an industry publication no matter who it makes good spin for. Mr. Vaughn came to this insider's forum and engaged and belittled established insiders. He plays verbal ballet with the top FUD masters on other forums and has displayed blatant two faced behavior when he was jumping between this and another forum all while touting his integrity as a journalist.

I posted my venting here because I thought that insiders might be able to make their displeasure known and at least this behavior might cease. Hints and even early release of info when cleared is fine. But prematurely releasing another publications data without express permission seems to me to be unethical at worst and unprofessional at best.

I agree that any further discussion should be moved to another thread, I just wanted to clear up my reasons for the post and for the location of the post. Sorry for the disruption.

Chris

Well, I know at least ONE Insider who would/could make his displeasure known, for sure!

The only "buzz" I've heard about this has come from your posts... it certainly hasn't sold well around here (on HD DVD anyway)!

Do you have links with the buzz in it? Or has anyone else heard this?

Sorry Chris, I just don’t have the time to voice my displeasure about Mr. Vaughn, as paidgeek and I are super busy making sure all the fan-belts are in tip-top shape on the BD50 replication machines so that when WB comes onboard Blu exclusively, we don’t have a doomsday scenario presenting itself.

Alan Bell is supervising our fan-belt inspections.

Does anyone else get the feeling that some sort of announcement is going to be made sooner than later?
