Enough on this. If There was any danger Penton would probably say nothing and make cryptic hints like he did with Paramount. You can take specific denials to the bank

All this is is gamesaying like they do with all the press articles switching BD for HD DVD. Lionsgate made them look bad, so they spread rumors they're going neutral, just like they've done half a dozen time before

Get the Insider thread back on topic, now.

C'mon guys. Are we trying to run off our insiders?

Fox Executive, if you haven't been turned away by all this, I have a question. Recently there has been a review of Mr. Brooks by one Peter Bracke

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/253/mrbrooks.html

that gave 3.5/5 stars for picture quality.

While I understand that reviews are supposed to be somewhat subjective, having watched this movie very closely (sitting 6" away from a 46" 1080p LCD), I have to vehemently disagree with this assessment.

That said, my question is: do studios pay attention to these semi-professional "reviews"? Are there discussions around watercoolers where employees rant about these ridiculous reviews you sometimes get?

thanks

To the Fox insider when are we likely to see Bones, X-files and the Buffy series make there way onto BD?

For Fox Executive,

I don't believe True Lies has had an anamorphic DVD release as yet...this would be a good catalog title to show off on Blu...are there any plans?

Cheers,

Joe

Imho Aliens remastered would be a killer ap for Blu Ray

The VHS or even DVD I remember were -very- grainy.
This being said, it might have been what the director was aiming at ... /shrug.

I would SO go for all of those series. I'm not sure how Buffy would look (was it shot in full frame?), perhaps some editing to make it look awesome and widescreen would be in order. Same goes for the first 4 seasons of X-Files. I think they went widescreen starting with season 5.

I'm holding off on buying the Blu-Ray (or standard version) of Lost Season 3, as if they release seasons 1-2 on Blu Ray, I will double dip on those and start going blu on those. But I'm going to wait on that. Same goes for Smallville. I'm a completist (and want conformity in my collection).

My apologies for commentary, as I know this is the insiders thread, and may not belong.

The graininess is just a result of the type of film stock used.

I, for one, hope that Fox does not go overboard with noise reduction on this title, making the same mistake Paramount and Universal have on some of their recent HD DVDs.

Don’t spar with others on this thread, esp. when you think you are entitled to an answer, simply by posing a question.
Do you understand that corporate speak?

If any members here are interested in my further thoughts on this strike, let me know, and I’ll try to address the subject again with more elaboration later today or over the weekend.
Since this morning, it looks like there is indeed interest by some people concerning the strike.
What I was implying with my post above is that movie writers and novel writers seem to live quite different economic lifestyles which serves to limit my sympathy for screenwriters. Sure I believe that they should indeed get their fair share of the pie and I’ll let the bean counters on each side negotiate that out.

But consider this….screenwriters’ payments (at least the ones I know that belong to the WGA) are distributed at mandated stages of the process, i.e. treatment, first drafts, second drafts, third drafts, etc.
Even if what they contribute is worthless sh*t – and that doesn’t even consider what they get in fringe benefits.
Book writers, on the hand, in submitting the first third or first quarter of their novel, can have it rejected outright, with no second chance for a redo and even in some cases be legally obligated to return the monetary advance that they earlier received. And of course, in the meantime, book writers are completely financially responsible for their own heath and savings plans.

Quite a difference in what some writers get and don’t get, eh?

Well, there’s some history here and it’s not all about money.
For years, screenwriters haven’t gotten the respect they think they deserve in Hollywood…..due in part to some arrogant, ungrateful studio development executives who have dismissed their long hours of creative work with the attitude that “anyone can write”.
Not to mention, actors and directors improvising improvements in the script on the set.
And one thing that really just burns the heck out of some screenwriters I know is that when at the end of a movie they see the credit-

Film by Joe Schmo ………(Joe Schmo being the Director not the screenwriter).

So, you have a base of animosity and resentment by the writers that has developed over the years which leads to inflexible positions and inflated rhetoric and thus no quick resolutions to the matter.

And then on the other side you have the producers who are no angels.
So it goes………………………

Can the admin or mods make insiders name a light blue, so we can tell who's an insider or not?

So, nobody is 'posting FUD'. Asking for insider comment is using this thread as intended.
They will answer what they can, repeating it and annoying them serves no purpose!!!
